Reptile Hides Rock Reptile Cave Hideout Terrarium - Medium

My sizable corn snake has other places in his ample terrarium where he can do what all snakes absolutely crave doing: hide. Despite the awful stereotypes of snakes chasing people (no matter who you are, you almost certainly move faster than any snake; and they tire soon, besides, since they have only have room for one usable lung). So snakes as a group are the most timid critters you’re likely to find. Really. Snakes have so few defenses to fall back on - no arms or legs or claws or even teeth of any serious size - even the 10% of snake species in the world who use venom for hunting and self-defense would much rather slip away and hide than get into a contest with a human. They know quite well that they’re highly likely to lose. And even an injury in that encounter would usually mean death. They can’t afford to be stupid about these matters. So all snakes are connoisseurs of good hiding places. Any captive snake needs at least one reliable place to retreat for security and privacy. Just as their wild relatives always know at least a few good ones nearby. I wasn’t sure my very friendly snake needed another hideaway, but it turns out he loves this one! The doorway is wide enough that he can peek out from various angles but small enough for him to feel hidden. The shelter stays put quite well on the thick terry towels (so easily washable!) that I use as his substrate. Okay, the color looks pretty phony, but it wasn’t really going to look like a rock, was it? And the overall interior size seems a perfect fit for his chunky 4-foot-long flexible body to curl up in. He can be seen using it in every imaginable configuration of himself, completely or partly inside; but a favorite fully interior position involves some plump middle section of him right across the door, preserving his privacy from nosy humans, while he rests his chin on himself to watch anything interesting outside and to sniff its scent with his tongue. I avoid using strong cleaners on the shelter as it has needed little upkeep and I doubt the color would hold up well. And by his ultra-sensitive sniffing standards, any strong odors would linger nearly forever. Warm running water and a soft brush seem fine. Unscented soap would be as far as I’d go. So I don’t hesitate to recommend this hideaway for any occupants whose size would be a good match. I would think it fine for terrestrial turtles or tortoises of the right size, but I wouldn’t consider it suitable in an aquarium where even part of it would be submerged. I don’t think the paints on the resin could be trusted to last in water, and they can’t be assumed safe for any animal in that water.

Our gecko moved into this new log right away. Even though it’s made of synthetic material—and we had another one made of real wood—she likes this new log much better. I tried moving it to a different spot, but the gecko specifically goes to the new log. She really likes it; it looks very realistic.

This is a really nice hide. It provides adequate room for my garter snake and it looks nice in his planted enclosure.

Perfect for my little bearded dragon. Not ideal for full grown lizards, but great for babies.

I ordered one of the large fake rock style hides for my corn snake and while I received the first one in a timely manner, it came incorrect packaging and an undamaged box, but was completely shattered upon arrival. I went through the process of sending it back and requesting a replacement only need to have the replacement come in another undamaged box with decent packaging and the hide once again was shattered inside. After the second time, I just got a refund and threw it in the garbage. I’m not sure about the other styles of hide, but I would avoid this one.

Solid quality. Beautiful and functional. Easy to just wash off when cleaning your enclosure. I bought the largest size and I think it will work great even when my ball python reaches full maturity.

Hide seemed decent enough but it came broken as everyone else said there’s did I knew I was risking it but hey what’s the chances they ALL WOULD BE BROKEN RIGHT I guess pretty good

Updating review - tried second time to order since first log without any packing and came broken. Second log was well packed and came perfect. I’m glad I gave them a second chance bc the log is perfect for my son’s corn snake and is quality item as described and no sharp edges

La verdad es que es de muy buena calidad, pero en mi caso que hice mejorará aún más el aspecto y le di una capa de silicona y le puse tierra adherida para que parezca más natural todavía también le pegué un tronco encima y por lo tanto ha cambiado mucho el aspecto, pero la calidad de los materiales es buena adjunto una foto
