why does it say in the description that: "deliver up to a 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution." but also 1366 by 768 resolution??

Depending on which model you get there are two different "HD" resolutions. The MB168B has a resolution of 1366 x 768 HD. The MB168+ is the full 1920 x 1080 HD version of the monitor. The lower priced model, MB168B might be 720 HD if that helps you understand the difference. Tv's work in 720HD and 1080HD. Naturally the 1080 is the higher image quality and higher resolution. It might also be affected by the usb port used. The full effects such as brightness and best image quality require the usb 3.0 connection. It will work on usb 2.0 but not to its potential.

Does this work with a macbook air?

I had to install the software that came on the disk in the box (also available on Asus website). After that it works very well with my brand new Mac Mini running OS X 10.9 Mavericks, so I think it probably would work with your Macbook Air.

Is this monitor plug & play? Is it Win 7 compatible?

I’ve used mine on Win 7 & 10. Both work as plug-n-play. Plug it in, the donut spins for a minut

How many USB ports does this use? I noticed one of the other portable monitors uses two. Thanks.

It uses one USB port. Five of my coworkers also purchased this monitor and we are all please with it. We are all traveling consultants who use this daily.
