An excellent book for inquisitive older teenagers and adults to understand how plants are adapted to the the niches in the diverse ecosystems that we must maintain for the wellbeing of all life life on the Earth, the oxygen we breathe, the diversity of resources for food and discovering new medicines, to maintain natural soil fertility, and to restabilise the global climate system.

Beautiful images and informative text
I was drawn into getting this book for my boys (5 and 7) by the beautiful photos and amazing imagery. What we have enjoyed most however is the way the book is structured. It is not a encyclopaedia of plants from A to Z, instead it is structured around the elements and features which plants have in common or that make them unique. This makes for a far more engaging and informative read. Just flicking through the amazing images is also great.
