Not good at all!
These dried dates and dusted with oat meal are not good. There is mostly oat meal as you cannot taste the dates at all. You get a few large oat meal with tiny dates you canโt even taste and a lot of tiny peaces that is all oat meal. I wonโt buy these again.

May be old and dried out!
This is the 3rd time I ordered these. The first two purchases were excellent. The most recent bag of dates very hard and difficult to chew (as if they were old and dried out) also, there was not a hint of the white powder. Very dissappointed and I will have to throw them out or risk breaking a tooth.

Flavorless.
Flavorless. I am so disappointed with these dates. I have a holiday recipe that uses dates. After putting the ingredients together, something did not taste right. I decided to try again, paying very careful to the recipe, with the same result. I then ate a couple dates, and, they are basically without flavor. I usually do not write reviews, but, a lot of grocery money went into the trash can.

Value for money
I have been buying these for a number of years, and use them in baking. They are of high quality, taste good, and the oat flour dusting keeps them from sticking together. All around I feel they are a good value for the money.

Weird...
I'm not entirely what I expected "dusted with oat flour" to mean, but what I received was not it. The dates are so heavily coated in flour that the date pieces look like little white pellets, and strangely don't taste very "datey"? It seems like the oat flour dusting was meant to prevent clumping, but the package still ended up having squished pieces stuck together. Plus, there's a large amount of tiny fragments + oat flour in the bottom of the bag. Oats are awesome! Just not when used as an anti-caking agent xD

Fresh and tasty
Great texture, right level of sweetness, and taste fresh. I will buy these dates again!

Needs Rehydration Before Most Uses
I chose this product to use in holiday baking. I am used to chopped meaning that the actual pitted date had been diced/chopped into small pieces. The chopped dates that this company provides are apparently run through a mill that produces pellets that are then dust with an oat flour that prevents them from clumping when packaged. The pellets are dry and hard to the touch. I found the pellets to be difficult to chew when I tasted them. They were rather tasteless. The next day I added a handful to my oatmeal before microwaving. I gave the oatmeal a good stir when it came out of the mictowave and I could smell the aroma of the dates. Before I added anything else to the hot oatmeal I tasted it. I was surprised to find the oatmeal almost sweet enough to eat as it was. So my advice is to use them for baking or hot cereal. I would recommend maybe soaking them in a little liquid like a bit of hot tap water or fruit juice to plump the pellets up before adding them to a recipe. I am using the date pellets in a special fruitcake recipe that I normally would use a well known brand name chopped pitted date pieces in. All the dried fruits are rehydrated by soaking in brandy overnight so these date pellets will work out just fine. I just think that the manufacturer should have described the product better. If you are thinking that these are chopped pieces of Medjool type pitted dates that are soft and sweet and found on your grocery store shelves they are not. The price is fair for what you are getting and they come in a heavy duty zip closure plastic bag. I am reveiwing them as what I received which was pellets not pieces. Definitely not a snack to eat just as they are. I hope this review helps you make an informed product decision when you are shopping.

The dates work well for my date/nut bread
I ordered these dates to make an old recipe date/nut (walnut) brown bread. I make it in small loaves so I can freeze some of them. The loaves turn out moist and delicious. The coating of oat flour keeps the date pieces from sinking to the bottom of the pans and is easily distributed through the loaves. The first step of the process is to put the dates in a large bowl with small amount of baking soda and very hot water with some butter. The hot water softens the dates. When the ingredients have cooled, I complete the rest of the recipe. After mixing well, the goopy dough goes into the well oiled pans. All came out of the oven smelling and tasting wonderful.
