A true and honest rating
Very impressed uppon opening box, true aluminum housing and definitely felt well made. Compair this to the cheap cigarette pack sized plastic Android TV boxes and this wins hands down! Ethernet connection was fast and simple, speeds in excess of 125Mbps when tested. Follow their simple set up and you can be watching within 10 or so minutes.... Now, if you have any idea about Kodi boxes you'll not want to stop there! This is where this box begins to shine. Get rid of the bloatware apps on this box, install a good APK file and fire up Terrarium. While this may be good for most, live on the edge and kick it up a notch. Zoomtak has a pretty basic build for Kodi installed, you can find a wizard hidden in there and use it to install a decent build if you somewhat know your way around doing this. I highly suggest doing a Google search and reading up on this if you are not sure. I am very impressed that this box is playing 4k movies with outstanding clarity and NO LAG on my system. I have thrown a lot at this box over the last week and am impressed. Spend the few extra dollars to purchase this Android box, this will Outlast the $60 cheap plastic ones that run NOWHERE NEAR THEIR ADVERTISED SPEEDS!!!****PLEASE NOTE...I DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY AND PAID FOR THIS BOX WITH MY OWN MONEY! Not as User Friendly as Led to Believe / Software Gaps with NAS
There are a number of issues regarding this device. 1st- it finds my NAS the takes an Access Denied error when using DLNS.2nd- I had to load VLC Application on this which appears to be working. 3rd- This seems geared more towards TV than network media. As I only wanted it to play my NAS media its 3 Stars unless their support knows something I dont regarding the Access issue.Jan 6th 2018: I was able to get my NAS videos to play however had to search for another application. The apps that come packaged (including ZTMC) are absolutely no help. Visually, The ZTMC (KODI) app looks great however playback of any NAS Video (VOB) was VERY choppy. I found better playback via Achros (app store download). Although better, you could still tell it was slower than it should be. Overall I am not sure who writes the reviews or how their network is designed however this is a two star product as it applies to my requirements.I will also add there is no real documentation provided explaining how to configure the device or associated apps. Its almost as they skip this hoping you will figure it out. What is the point of creating a device and providing apps if they do not have detailed instruction on how to use either the device or the included apps.As a user I had hope to: Set it up, Connect to my network, Find my NAS, Find my files, Play them. Its not rocket science. Fail..I will be returning and continue my search for a solid network media player. Western Digital used to make a solid media player (WDTV) however sadly is no longer produced.

Another TV Box that out performs and Delivers.
I would say I am impressed with this TV box, I got it and configured it with all my Apps and APK and ran it for two days and at the same time carried out my Home Theater test for ATMOS Sound and it delivered a stunning performance and the 4K color on my OLED TV was absolutely awesome.I am impressed with this box, its well built the firmware is solid and it comes with auto-update for the firmware not all the TV box has the auto update. Moreover, the quality of the product is a grade A and holding the unit you can tell it is a solid box and it screams Quality.I have this in my second Living room and I am pleased that it comes with the company Memory Cleaner that works well with the built in ASIC.Excellent product and solid.Performance: It did not freeze once rather the application/apk did freeze, the 4k picture is awesome with no streaks and the black lines not present the picture was just stunning and the Black level combined with the OLED was just something to see.. SUPER.This is awesome TV box, performance is TOP notch.. well made product very impressed...

If your familiar with Android media players this one is just like any other Octo Core 4K Android box so
The Zoomtak T8Plus-2 is very much what it says on the box. If your familiar with Android media players this one is just like any other Octo Core 4K Android box so, in that respect I guess it would deserve 5 stars! However there are some major issues with this one and all of the other brand names under which this product is sold (eg DroidBox).First thing is both my Zoomtac and a friends DroidBox version of this model have a green line along the bottom and right side of the screen. This is not anything to do with the "Screen Scale" as it is present at all times. I work in the AV industry and have tried a number of different HDMI cables, all TV inputs and a different TV, still have the green lines. The lines are present during boot up so I'm assuming it's a hardware issue and not something that can be cured by firmware updates. If anyone know a solution please let us know.Next is the remote, the Red - Green - Yellow - Blue buttons have been assigned to specific tasks, for example the Red button will open KODI. You CANNOT over ride this with a Key Re-mapper like MKR so with any app that uses color buttons your screwed. The only work around I found for this is to Re-Map other keys on the remote and assign them the roll of Red - Green - Yellow - Blue. I used the row of buttons below the color buttons and re-mapped them since they did not seem to do anything anyway. The remote layout is very poor, once I re-mapped I learned all the IR codes into a Universal Remote so I have a proper button layout and color button functionality, I just could not continue with the OEM remote! The WiFi antenna is non removable and cannot be folded down behind the box so when using a LAN cable you will need to leave it sticking up. FYI all Android boxes seem to have terrible WiFi and this one with it's big antenna while better then most others is still not as good as the antenna would have you believe (did not test on the AC band yet). BTW, if your using IPTV you really need to be hard wired regardless of what box your using.Next is the Power LED, it's dazzling if placed directly under the TV and lights the entire room at night. It's also on in Red when the box is powered down so if you want a dark room at night your only option is open the box and paint over the LED.I like the metal case and the fact that it has a large heat sink on the processor. Also like that you have analog and optical outputs but, after re-mapping key's, using a different remote and painting the LED I still have to live with green lines onscreen, hence 2 stars....D.M.
