Not Suited for All Chickens
Reading another review, I wanted to clarify, this is JUST oyster shell with no grit.We have fairly large fowl, a flock of Orpingtons, amongst other breeds - they're from show lines, so you would assume they would take to this quite well. But, they didn't like it, they found it too large assuringly, picking it up, giving it a mull over and then spitting it out. I usually buy Feathers and Beaky mixed grit which has oyster shells that one is usually £6 for 5kg and the size is considerably smaller, I also buy Jondo mixed poultry grit which is better value for a sack of 25kg if you have the space and again with smaller pieces. We've never had a problem with crop issues or eggshell issues with either of those products which were recommended to us by one of the most well known breeders in the country. This one comparatively, is almost £7 for 1kg so it's easier to store in a cupboard, but at a premium price. Though I love the animal feeds that Seedzbox offer, which our hens too love, I won't consider these oyster shells again in the future as none form our flock liked the size.3 stars as I like their other feeds even though they're quite pricey so I don't want to discredit the brand, the quality go the oyster shells are good, but we do hope they can produce a smaller size in the future.

Good quality product, but overpriced compared to local stores
We have four laying hens and really notice the difference in the quality of the eggshell if they run out of grit. It helps them to digest their food and also adds calcium and other minerals to make the egg shells stronger. We love the ethos behind this company, and to support for the planting of trees, but this is a premium price product that we think this product is rather expensive for what you get. After all, the shell/grit is a mechanical aid to assist the hen digest and extracting some minerals. It's not a gourmet product.Yes, our chicken eats this and is healthy, but she was thriving on our previous brand too. What more can we say, except we think it's way overpriced and looks identical to our local store brand at a fraction of the price. I'm marking this down on price only, the product looks fair and the ethos is good. However, I think, you might get this cheaper at a local store

Excellent oyster shell - a must for laying hens!
The media could not be loaded. Oyster shell is a great way to ensure that your laying hens are getting enough calcium in their diet, which is important for egg shell strength. Some complete pellets contain calcium, but it's still always a good idea to have oyster grit available for them to self select. Chickens are clever and know what they need, so they won't overdo it.This Seedzbox oyster shell is clean with very little dust. It comes packaged in an easy-to-manage sized bag (oyster shell is heavy and I find that a 1Kg bag is just about right. I scatter some in their run and leave the rest in a feeder (see video).Currently, this costs £6.99 including Prime delivery, which I think is good value considering how heavy it is. I have five hens and this should probably last them at least six months, possibly more. Highly recommended!

On The Large Side
This is a 1kg bag of oyster shell grit (note, that is just ground up oyster shells, there is no actual grit).Unfortunately the pieces of oyster shells seem quite large with a good proportion of them being at least 1cm wide. This is larger than the oyster shells I usually feed my chickens. When I tried them with these shells, after an initial interest, they didn’t think much to them and left them alone. I don’t know whether this is just because my particular birds are used to something smaller, or if the larger size would be off putting to most chickens. As a result it is hard for me to recommend these. If your birds are used to larger oyster shell pieces then these should be great, but if they are not you may need to look elsewhere.~ Amazon asked me to review this product and to give my honest opinion about it. That’s what I have set out to do, so I hope you found it helpful. ~

Oyster Shell Grit For Poultry, Chickens, and Game Birds, Seedzbox, High in Calcium
I wanted to try this with my Parrots but I have a funny feeling the bits are too big. If it was finer I'd have tried it with them. Looking at it though I'm a tad worried it could be too big.I'll try it on the chickens though. Looks good and a nice size bag and does look good.Gave it 4-5 because of the size of the shell bits. Just seem too big for my needs.

Paying for the feel-good factor
The grit is ok and a good size/ratio of shell to grit but a little expensive compared to others and of course to bulk bags. Your paying for the donation part and feel good factor that comes with that
