Q: I have a mattress with a pillow top that adds 2 extra inches so 14" in total. Would my mattress fit since it has a 16" clearance from the wall?

Dear Jennifer, Thank you for taking the time to contact us. The gap between the mattress base and the wall is 14" when the bed is in the upright position. You can use the 14" deep mattress but you will need to install the bed to the floor slightly further from the wall in order to also have space for the bedding. Also, the wallbed package includes a mattress retaining strap, however with a 14" mattress you may need 2 extra straps, these can be requested after the purchase for free. The wallbed has to be securely fixed either to the wall (concrete, brick wall) or to the floor (concrete, wooden floor) or both. Dear Al, Thank you for taking the time to contact us. The distance between the floor and the bottom of the bed base when the bed is folded down is 9 inches. Please note, the wallbed has to be securely fixed either to the wall (concrete, brick wall) or to the floor (concrete, wooden floor) or both. If you have plasterboard wall you will need to fix the wallbed to the studwork. The package does not include the fixings as these can vary depending on your floor or wall.
