Keeps the holes in your boat to a minimum
This plastic "board" is 12" long so I cut it in two pieces, one for my aluminum Jon boat and one for my fiberglass bass boat. The board, which is for mounting a transducer for my fish finders, has two pre-driiled holes in it for mounting as a single piece, which I would have preferred no holes at all. I stuck it on the boats with a 3M Maine adhesive and we will see how long it stays on. I was able to cover existing holes from previous transducer mounts with this product. I definitely recommend this plate.

It's gray HDPE not white HDPE.
Beware if you're buying this thinking you're getting a white piece of HDPE for your white hull. It is not. It is gray.

Good product, good price
Good product, good price. Note that the color is light grey, as stated in the item description -- not white as shown in the photo. It's large enough to mount 3 or 4 devices, and I need only 1 -- so I will cut it down to about 8", and use the 4" leftover to create a portable mount to put my fishfinder in one of the oarlocks on my small 14' boat. The material is very hard, dense plastic, and can be cut, drilled, and sanded pretty much like wood. If you're going to use it as-is, the 12" plate is pre-drilled, and stainless screws are supplied. However, if you're going to put it on a thin-hull aluminum boat like mine, you'll need to buy some stainless nuts and bolts, rather than use these long screws.

Overall I was pleased with the plate
It was what I expected it to be. Stiff quality plastic.I had to modify it for my particular boat. My boat curves inward across the transom so I had to heat up the mounting plate with a heat gun and mold it to the curvature of my boat. I also had to drill out and counter sink a third hole in the middle of the plate and add a third stainless steel screw, so I could get a tight fit to my curved fiberglass boat transom. If your transom is flat it will fit with no modifications. Overall I was pleased with the plate, no more drilling into the old boat when adding a new transducer.

I had a leaking transom due to holes made by the manufacturer
Believe me, check to see that you have a water tight transom and do anything you can to keep water out. My transom leaked through the U-bolt holes installed by the factory, I never checked them until I noticed a little brown water in the floor below them, too late. The plywood inside the fiberglass was nothing more than toothpicks and repairs ran almost $3000. Put one of these boards on and seal it with 3M permanent sealer (below the water line) and you can change transducers and other outboard sensors without going into the transom.

Good product at a fair price. Buy new screws!!!
The screws are garbage. Outside of that product was easy to mount and seems to be good quality.
