I've been using these pencils for 8 months and they work great! They've become part of my standard ceramic practice and I am just now buying a second set of pencils after using them weekly. I'm giving them 4 out of 5 stars because they are a little tricky to sharpen and do break somewhat easily. I also find they dull my sharpener quickly, I usually need to swap it out after a month or so. Otherwise, I really like them and have recommended them often. That said, this is the only underglaze pencil brand I’ve used so far, so I haven’t compared them to others. I’ve included a few images of my work so you can see the line quality. It’s similar to drawing with charcoal. You do have to be careful not to smudge the lines after applying or they’ll look blurry or wipe away. I used the pencils over Amaco Velvet Underglaze with clear on top (except on hedgehog faces). These have been fired to Cone 5.

These are great. I love the way they work and look great when fired.

The “lead” breaks easily and won’t hold a point. The product barely adheres to bisqueware. You have to go over the same line multiple times for it to show up. If you look at it the wrong way it falls off the pot. On greenware it is barely visible when fired to cone 05, when used on bisque the “underglaze” burns out at cone 6. Don’t waste your money.

Worked better than expected. Good for signature as well as detailed drawing on bisqued ceramics (cone 6).
