TSP is hard on clothes and dishes/glassware. If you want the phosphate used in laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent before it was restricted, use sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP). It goes by other synonyms, pentasodium triphosphate, etc.

Is this safe for stainless steel appliances and a glass stovetop?

Good for stainless to remove oils from the factory on food equipment. You will want to also use a good sanitizer (star-san) to passivate stainless steel after the TSP.
