Originally, I bought the harness from Shine for Dogs, I did have to return the first one for a different size but the shipping was quick and the exchange was easy. I loved the light on the harness, I got the Lime so it's very bright and the charge lasts a long time (also charges pretty quickly), but the mesh part that sits across the dogs shoulders was substandard and started falling apart pretty quickly. The adjustable strap that goes underneath the dog is a very slippery material, so it has to be constantly readjusted. I didn't want to sew it in place as I sometimes put a coat on my dog for extended snow play and need to be able to make the harness larger at times to accommodate that. Also, the harness never stayed in place centered over my dogs shoulders, it was always slipping down onto whatever side the leash was pulling from, making me have to constantly have to readjust it while on walks, which I find very irritating. I finally found a great harness that works for my dogs skinny shape (Ultra Hund makes a great one), but I still wanted the great light for when my dog walks himself in my un-fenced yard after dark (I like to keep an eye on him from an upstairs window, and just in case he tries to make a new neighborhood friend without asking to leave the yard, cars will be able to see him to avoid hitting him), and I didn't want to have to get my dog all excited by putting a harness on him every time he has to go out after dark. So, I bought the collar instead and I love it! It's basically like the whole collar is made of the good components from the harness, without the sub-par elements. It's just as super-bright as the harness because I got the same Lime option. I got the medium because I measured my dogs neck at 16", and he likes his collar loose because he's always choking on absolutely nothing when he gets over-excited. I did notice that if I wanted to set the collar at 16-17" to get what would be a "normal" fit for a collar, I would not have been able to do that because there's a thing on the end of the fiber optic that can't be bent, so the adjuster on the collar can't be set on about 1 1/2" of the collar (either needs to be set before or after the un-bendable bit). This is really only a concern for people who have to set the collar at 16-17". If you can be over or under that measurement, you'll be okay. This works out much better for my dog and I because he can wear the collar all the time and just needs the light activated when he goes out after dark. There's no close to bedtime over excitement because he thinks a walk is imminent, I only have to charge it for about an hour every few weeks, and it's no larger or thicker than your average, well-made dog collar. I would, and have recommended this to anyone I know with a dog.

This is a great collar! On a full charge usually lasts at least two hours straight. I usually only turn it on when I take my dog on a walk or let him outside. I get compliments every time I walk him. Kids love it and think it's so cool! And all of the proceeds go to helping dogs!UPDATE: Brand new this collar is awesome; it's bright and looks great. After a while though some of the LEDs stop working so well and it doesn't look as good. This is especially true for the leash because I wrap it around my wrist a few times to shorten it and that puts wear and tear on it more and some LEDs stop working or aren't as bright. They last about 8-12 months before I need to replace. But I do love the collars when they're new and work well and I get lots of compliments. Like my dog Ollie looks like a dog from Blade Runner or Tron.

Very bright, came fully charged even! Only drawback is that it is harder to make it smaller. My dog has a 21in neck and got the larger but it is very big. If your dog is on the smaller side of the range, try to size down.

I feel a lot safer walking my dog using this collar. People drive crazy so it's nice to be visible on the roadside. We have the blue one and it is very bright. Sometimes when my flashlight is turned off and there's no streetlights, it's almost too bright and hurts my eyes. But I'm not complaining. I bought it so we could be seen. It's also nice because right out of our house I let my dog run free on our road before we get to the busier streets, and now I can see her when she goes into the woods and empy lots. I have a separate leash that goes right over my dog's neck so I wasn't too worried about the fit. It's loose and that's fine. I received this right around Christmas and don't use it all the time, but frequently, and it just died after 4 months of use. Which leads me to a question - I don't know how to recharge it. I either misplaced or never received the manual and USB cable. I can use a universal one? And can anyone briefly say what the instructions are? I asked this in the Q&A area but there wasn't a lot of text available to ask a question. Thanks for all the previous reviews that helped me decide on this collar!

This is great.Battery lasts long, and it's been still working good for a couple years.I get a lot of compliments.Only one cons.Even it gets dirty, I can't wash it because it has a battery and light.Well, it's pretty good price.I can buy an another one.

Just bought 2 of these for 2 of my dogs, one small for my Maltese and a large for my lab mix. I love how they work and how bright they are but the small is very large and is way too stiff when shortened to the smallest length and extremely bulky for her tiny size so I unfortunately can't use it on her. Instead I put hers on my lab mix which fits him perfectly on the largest setting and the large on my great pyrenees mix who I hadn't planned to buy one for because she's so fluffy but it's really visible under her fur. So I'm mostly happy with the purchase but would recommend only for 20# plus dogs and maybe order a size down. Will have to order a different brand for my Maltese and my male lab mix will just have to rock a pretty pink collar at night lol.
