Great little winch, but possible minor improvements
The winch works very well! I use it with a pulley to raise my 70lbs bike to the ceiling in the garage. My only complaints are that the end of the steel cable got really frayed, but I just coated it in some quickset epoxy to bundle it back together and prevent further fraying. I think it would also be great if the rachet lock had a longer lever to make it easier to switch direction

This winch makes my creative Garage space management possible!Wife wanted a heavy bag in the garage for when she wants to hit something and release stress. However, my garage is also a working woodshop, real estate is precious.This winch allowed me to install her bag and lower it for when she needs it and lift it out of the way for when she does not.Win!!!

Needs a brake, needs to have a left/right handle, GREAT value for a great price . . .
Needs a brake for when you need to let go, it would be wonderful if they'd make the handle that could work for both sides, BUT for the price it's a GREAT solution . . .

Poor manufacture quality
All of the other one star complaints say that the pawl does not align with the crank gear, which allows the winch to freewheel when it should be locked. I received mine and this is exactly what I found as well. This would be a great little winch if they would put some time and effort into quality control.I don't know if I can find another small winch like this one. If not, I think I can improve on this one by inserting some shims behind the pawl to make it line up with the crank gear better. But I cannot recommend this to anyone in its current state of manufacture.

Good quality
This works great. We use it to raise and lower a bin that we use to feed the animals. It is lightweight and durable.

Seemed good.
Looked good for the price however it didn't work so well. It's kept outside and the cable rusted rather quickly and not the crank is hard to turn.
