Engineering Pad

This is my favorite notebook, period. I am obsessed with notebooks and have tried them all. Whitelines succeeds in offering a high quality grid paper with unobtrusive lines. The closest competitor I can think of is the Roaring Spring Buff Engineering Pad, but to me that serves a different purpose (it is interesting to note that this version of Whitelines is also made by Roaring Spring). The engineering pad is better for working on problem sets. The Leuchtturm1917 notebooks are comparable, but those are way more expensive and the covers are much heavier than they need to be. They feel a bit too precious, like whatever I write in them needs to be of utmost importance. This notebook is great for sketching out ideas, doing research, working on technical and creative things that requires some level of permanence. But at the same time, it's not so nice that I feel bad about doodling stuff that will be trashed later. The paper weight is just right. Ink flows nicely, and isn't visible from the opposite side so both front and back pages are completely usable. I have used Whitelines for years, with their A4 squared notebook. I was quite fond of that notebook, and was disappointed when it seemed they were slowly being discontinued. This notebook was a pleasant surprise, and even better, it improves on the original in several ways. First, it's standard letter size (including the binding... it will be smaller when you tear it off), which is great for those of us in the USA. Second, the backing is a lightweight cardboard, which makes it easier to write on the pad while freestanding; the previous versions were too flexible. And finally it is compatible with the Whitelines Link app, which may or may not be useful for you. My only complaint is that the Link markings take up some space on the corners of the page. There could've been more usable space. And the grid doesn't flow all the way to the edge. There's a margin, but I suppose it just helps to keep the page more tidy. Not a big deal... you could just write over the Link markers since they're so unobtrusive. Love this notebook, I just hope that they don't discontinue it. Might have to stock up.

Love that it has a free app and doesn’t need a subscription like others. The paper is high quality

Overall the product seems great the pages look nice and the thickness is good. I am impressed with the overall quality as well. With it not being shipped in a box or any sort of container. The binding on it held up pretty good, but it still was squished and hard to turn the pages and was crushed in the corners a little bit. I could have made do if that was the only issues but unfortunately with it being left out in the rain it did get warped and the pages did get messed up. I am impressed with what it probably went through to get delivered it held up very well! Just make sure to ask for it to be delivered in something other then "manufacturers container" even though there wasn't even something, not even a plastic bag. Can't wait for the replacement and to be able to start writing in it!

Love the product. Doesn’t bleed through because the paper thick but still lightweight. Make note taking easy for cheap without haveinh to worry about the paper tearing.

I absolutely love this notebook, it’s my 6th one so far during my college life! The notes on it are not eye tiring and the ink does not get onto the back side of the paper. The only issue is that the wire of the notebook is not very sturdy but overall great!

I'll keep this short but I have always struggled to stick to ONE notebook because i'm super picky and was going back and forth between that traditional notebook lined paper that I hate, blank white printer paper that I always lost and an ipad/apple pencil notes which I didn't end up liking as much as paper. I don't even use the app, but this is the only notebook i've actually stuck to and used every page of. The lines are faint enough so that they guide you to write straight but aren't distracting and you can read back your notes as easily and clearly as a blank sheet of paper. I don't know how to describe the issue I have with traditional lined or graph paper to someone who doesn't have a problem using it, but If you have ADHD and find the dark lined paper distracting, or if you're a med student who needs to re-read your notes and make it easier to find stuff, OR if you're unfortunate enough to be both a med student who has ADD like me, then this notebook is for you.

As a long-time user of gridline paper to take notes, this has the added bonus of clear scans. Using it for grad school notes. Absolutely a fan.

It's essentially high quality paper for a quite effective note-taking system. The paper is heavy (20 lb), two sided, and erases cleanly. I have had an issue with bleed-through so I tend to just use pencil with this paper to maximize value by using both sides. When you write your notes and then use the (completely free) app to scan them, you can export them to a .pdf. This is where the magic happens as the file it creates looks like you free-handed professional looking notes, schematics, sketches, etc. Because it has the little QR symbols in the corners of the pages, the app does all the work so you never get a bad scan from your phone. It is that clean looking document this app makes that you archive in OneNote or your collection of .pdf s. Basically the expense (average 15 cents a sheet) and coolness of this system makes you want to do better when you make your notes, by planning them out and not wasting paper, so there is a learning enhancement right there.

These are simply great. The colour of the pages I find better than just white pages or the yellow legal. I do not scan every day or meeting but I like having the option to do so for integral meetings.

Conocí estos cuadernos hace unos 7 años en Suecia, y pensé que nunca podría adquirirlo en mi país. La versión sueca tiene acabado plastificado, lo cual ayuda mucho. Pero esta nueva versión tiene la característica de poder usar tu smartphone con tus apuntes, lo cual está genial. Las hojas gruesas y precintadas, por si quieres arrancarlas, está genial. Definitivamente volvería a comprar más cuadernos de estos. Los recomiendo ampliamente.

I have a page scanning app on my phone, but I was looking for something more than jotting down notes on random pieces of paper or floating sheets from a pad. The Whitelines notebook solved the latter problem and it's pretty seamless to scan the page in the notebook with lines removed, remove any unwanted dots and black-marks and then sort & drop the page(s) into a cloud drive (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc). There are FAKE brands that look like Whitelines, but they're NOT. So be careful. AND the Whitelines app is pretty flawless in terms of intuitive simplicity and ease of use.
