Be cautious of the negative reviews and read between the lines....Most of them are obviously human error....That being said, this product is really easy to use. I made mistakes the first couple of times, too, probably psyched myself into being intimidated by the application process, but now I do it in five minutes without even thinking about it:)First off, the dryness of your skin with determine how much care and effort you have to put into the exfoliation/moisturizing process. If you have dry skin, you WILL NEED TO MOISTURIZE before and during your tan. If not, patchiness and flaking WILL HAPPEN. Now, this is rarely mentioned, but you want to avoid exfoliation during your tan, unless you are planning on applying a new coat that day. You'll look like a patchy mess, but the new coat will even it out, I swear. Also, if you participate in any exfoliating activities, like a pedicure, or a walk on the beach, the tan will wear off in those areas, so just moisturize & reapply. As far as the application itself, after showering/shaving/exfoliating and thoroughly moisturizing, apply your tan using a foam tanning mitt. I would recommend watching a few demonstration videos by beauty gurus on YouTube. There are many to choose from, and the brand they are endorsing really isn't that important, I would just say find one with the same consistency as the product you've chosen (ie, mousse for mousse, lotion for lotion, spray for spray, etc)The mousse drys quickly, so as long as you don't get wet or sweaty, you can go on about your day after application. Now, it may look streaky or muddy once it develops, but this is just the color guide, so once rinse off in the shower the first time (as it's designed to) it will wash away to reveal a beautiful even tan. I usually tan at night, rinse in the morning. Some find the "developed" faux tanner smell offensive. ALL self tanners have this smell to some degree. What I've found, is that the strength of this smell varies person to person, as it develops with yours skin. But this smell vanishes with the first rinse, so If you do not like this smell, just apply before bed, and rinse away in the morning. As far as transferring, the product CAN rub off before the first rinse, but does wash out of clothes, sheets, etc, so don't freak out. After first rinse, transferring is minimal to non-existent, so you only really need to watch light, tightly fitted clothing. And really, this is just a vain-while-you are wearing concern. It will wash out. White tube top on a hot humid day? A little tan may come off at the bustline. But for the most part, this stuff is on there! My person snafus you might learn from:) --*If I'm not careful, I'll get a line on the back of my upper arm from touching "wet" skin to "wet" skin on my side. I avoid this by just over-blending those areas as the mousse is drying, which is pretty quickly.*When doing your back, you will have to contort your body in some odd positions. If you have a boyfriend, girlfriend, or roommate that is willing to do it for you, ask for help. If not, I'd suggest doing your back first, to avoid any streaking caused by your freshly tanned arms. The product drys quickly, so it's not a major concern, just lightly re-blend any "touched" areas otherwise.*I'm don't have super dry skin, so I don't moisturize at all unless I'm getting ready to tan, but if you don't plan on reapplying once a week or less, the product WILL get patchy in the final stages of fading. Moisturizing daily minimizes this. If you are planning to let your faux tan go completely, You can exfoliate away those last few patches in the shower.*If you're like me, you will always get just a little foam under your mitt and on your palm:) If you wash your hands directly after application, you will wash off the tan on the backs of your hands, which you don't want to do. To (mostly) remove any tan that got on my palm, I put my hands together, flay, like I'm praying, with a dry towel in between, and rub together, hard. Any spots leftover will wash off the next day or so.

Okay so let me start off by saying this is a great product. It is a natural looking tan (if you like looking dark) and it lasts a good 4 or 5 days. However there are some flaws as well, it does have that fake tan smell after you apply it which I hate and it also leaks (only a little bit but who wants to waste product!). Once you get past the smell I think anyone would enjoy this, it doesn't streak at least on me. After a couple of days it does get a little splotchy but not enough to notice unless you really sit and look at it. Over its a great product and I would definitely recommend this.

Perfect "Vacation" Glow
I LOVE this sunless tanning mousse. I heard about it through a friend and if anyone is searching the ends of the Earth for a sunless tanning solution, it is me. I really wish I had the budget to just walk into a tanning salon once a week and get sprayed tanned but I do not. I was a little apprehensive about trying this I read the reviews and the pros outweighed the cons. The main thing I took away from the reviews was to moisturize BEFORE applying the mousse.Steps I took:1. Took a shower2. After shower dried off and applied run-of-the-mill moisturizer (Mine came from Bath-N-Body Works)3. I used a Sunless Tanning Applicator Mitt and applied over as much of my body as I could by myself.4. Went to bed7.5 hours later, I woke up and I had a nice "vacation" look to my skin. I was not orangy, streaky, and the tanning solution was not all over my bed or night clothes. I took a shower and today multiple co-workers have asked if I went to the lake this past weekend.Success!!! There is a bit of that "sunless tan lotion" smell to it but it is not overbearing as others I have tried. I also was a bit nervous about the word "Extreme" in the product name because to me "Extreme" = "Orangy" but it really works well with my skin type. I plan on using it again in about 4 days to see how that glow looks and then I am going to try to go a week in between applications.I hope this product stays around for awhile because I really like it!!

Extreme??? I don't think so...
Really disappointed with this product. I'm returning. I don't know what is "extreme" about this color. When I put it on, I could hardly see the "color guard" which is a nude-ish color vs. a brown color which is what I had expected. But I figured it would develop darker overnight. Which is upsetting because I wanted something I could put on and still have a nice color without waiting hours. But I figured I would wait and see how it developed. I was equally as displeased. I wasn't very dark at all. Sure, I had some color, but it def wasn't extreme and wasn't worth what I paid for it. I got way better color results from St. Moritz which is like 75% less! I recall one beauty guru saying she put on two layers when she uses it. Sorry but why would I buy I product I need to do DOUBLE the work with? I'm going to try something else...The only positive thing I can say about it is that it did develop evenly and it doesn't seem to fade splotchy like some products (St. Moritz does this unfortunately). So I guess if you are not looking for something that gives you loads of instant and long term color, this could be what you are looking for.
