How well does it cut Extruded Polysytrene (the dense pink or blue insulation stuff sold at builder supply stores)?

Very good , but is slower than the white soft foam. You can cut all kinds of different designs.

How long I supposed to wait to get enough heat?! Because mine is not doing a thing.

Just a few seconds once you plug it in. It supposed to be rapid heating as it cools as it cuts.
