Well written compelling story

This book is very well written. Gordon really brings this sad story to life. I live near where the story takes place and I had no idea that any of this ever happened. It was sad, eye opening and I couldn't put this book down. After buying the Kindle version I purchased 3 others books as gifts. Looking forward to another book from this excellent author.

Great read. The book takes you to another time and place and brings a tragic piece of history to life. The dialog is crisp and real and the plot will keep you in suspense until the final page. You will find yourself aligning with competitive characters and will not be able to put this down. I was left with a perspective that demanded further honest contemplation. Enjoy !

Loved the book

The book that Mr. Long has authored is one that is both entertaining and informative. The details he provides paints an excellent picture of the recent post-civil war period for the reader. I couldn't put it down.
