Worked Like A Charm With Wii U
I had a very specific need for this item, I added an older, retired external hard drive to a Wii U and the console couldn't deliver enough power to properly connect with the drive, so I needed to connect the console's two USB ports to the external drive in order to get enough power to the drive. Either that or buy a new drive that could run on very little power, but I really didn't want to do that for a kids game console. This cord did exactly what it was supposed to, one USB male plug carries the data and some power and the second male plug only takes power from the Wii U to the drive. Put the two power sources together and you've got enough juice to spin up the hard drive. We've been using it for a few weeks now, and have had no problems at all.Great inexpensive solution to add an external drive to the game console.

Limited to 500mA per port, disappointed.
Deciding how many stars to rate this is hard. Because they do not provide any specs on the cable, I can't say they mislead me and it is of reasonable quality considering the price. Unfortunately though, the cable is not capable of doing anything more than combining 2 500mA ports and giving you 1 amp max for your device. Even if you connect it to 2 1 Amp power sources, the cable will only allow 500mA through each. I verified this using a USB Volt/Amp meter. So in my case, I was wanting to increase the 1 Amp output of the factory USB port in my car to 2 by connecting to a separate 1Amp USB power source. This doesn't work, I'm hoping there is another option for me, why don't people provide specs? Especially when you order something online, the more details the better, would save a lot of time!

A good example is a USB hard drive hooked up to ...
People need to research about a product, before they buy and talk trash and give 1 star. This cable is only for electronics who need power from two USB ports to operate properly! A good example is a USB hard drive hooked up to Nintendo Wii u won't work because of low voltage output from USB ports. This cable will use two USB port to supply enough power for the USB hard drive to work on Nintendo Wii u. One male USB end has data, and power pins. The other male USB end only has power pins. Know what your buying before you give bad reviews. 5 stars works for what its intended use is for. Highly recommended.

It works fine with my iPhone
Does what it says on the tin. My car has a USB plug for 500mA power and interface to the stereo. It works fine with my iPhone, but it's such low power that when running music, navigation, and bluetooth, the phone still slowly drains battery.Switching to a lighter-USB adapter loses the integration (which means noisier audio through an Aux cable, and loss of song title readout and stereo and steering wheel controls for changing tracks). This cable let me keep the data line connected to the car for integration and supply additional power from a lighter-USB adapter to charge the phone while using it fully. I only wish they made one with a shorter cord!

Works well as "powered" USB 2.0 extender cable for my WD passport portable external HDD
I have only two USB ports on front side of my desktop but 6 on back side. Backside USB ports are difficult to access for daily use. The regular single USB extension cable cannot give sufficient power to my WD passport external hard disk. I plug this cable into 2 USB ports on the backside and it reaches the front very well. Now I can plug the portable HDD into it easily and it works good. A powered USB hub should work for the purpose, but this cheap workaround does the trick well. The material looks cheap, but ok for the price I spent. There was no tracking information for shipping (free shipping). The product reached on the last day of 'expected' delivery. I've no complaints, but just thought to add it here.

Gives me the power to run my external USB DVD player with my tablet.
This Y adapter gives me the power to run my external USB DVD player with my tablet with less draining of the tablet battery. It does not supply any power to the tablet. The DVD player works more solidly with this setup. (The sole microUSB port on the tablet is also the sole charging port; when you plug in a USB device the tablet is on battery since the charging is disconnected.)Note: My external USB DVD player has just one USB plug for data and power. If it had come with a Y cable for supplementary power or with a dedicated power supply, as some of them do, I would not have needed this item.Jim

"Y" USB Cable
Yeah, somebody made a "Y" cable for the USB Port.!!! By having the magic jack plugged into my computer AND the electric outlet at the same time. That way I can use my phone without the computer on. I also like to use mine for Magic Jack, that way I can see who I have called in case I was thinking of calling, but didn't, but still thought I did. I used to have Vonage for $20./mo. so I switched to MagicJack for $5.29/mo. so I can keep my same phone number. The quality is the same as everything. Now I'm saving $176.00/yr.
