Can I boot from the NVMe SSD using this adapter?

Booting depends on your motherboard BIOS, not the adapter. Most motherboards from 2015+ with UEFI BIOS support NVMe boot. If your motherboard is older (pre-2015),you can still use it as secondary storage. Update BIOS for best results.

What is the maximum speed I can get?

The maximum speed depends on your PCIe slot generation. In a PCIe 3.0 x1 slot, expect up to ~1,000 MB/s read. In a PCIe 4.0 x1 slot, up to ~2,000 MB/s read. This is still significantly faster than any SATA SSD (max ~550 MB/s).

Why is my SSD not showing up?

New NVMe SSDs are unformatted. Go to Disk Management (right-click Start) → Initialize Disk (GPT) → New Simple Volume to format. This is normal, not a defect. The SSD will then appear as a new drive.

Do I need to install any drivers?

No drivers needed — plug and play on Windows 10/11, Linux & macOS. However,we recommend updating your motherboard BIOS to the latest version before installation, as older BIOS versions may not properly detect NVMe SSDs on PCIe adapters.
