Piazza Stainless Steel Oval Gelato Ice Cream Scoop, 1.7 x 2.4 Inch Scoop

Well constructed except for the weld between the handle and the bowl which was very rough and contained hard to clean holes and crevices. I returned my first one but the second had identical flaws. I was concerned that the weld would fail in use and I could never get food out of the nooks and crannies at the weld. It is two to three times more expensive than similar oval dishers. I will take may chances that a less expensive but easier to clean brand can stand up to the stress of dipping gelato.

I tried this gelato scoop with firm ice cream and unless the ice cream is very soft I cannot get a good comfortable grip for scooping. If you really need an ice cream scoop, try the  Rösle Ice Cream Scoop . I have one and it is the one I always reach for when scooping ice cream.So while I expect to use it like my other Piazza scoops for portioning, this Piazza scoop does not have the scoop size stamped on it like other Piazza scoops.PROS: Definitely made to last a lifetime. If you prefer squeeze actions over a thumb action for food release, this is the scoop for you.CONS: Is a great portioning scoop if I knew how much I was scooping for a portion.

I have owned and tried several different brand and styles of ice-cream scoop and Zeroll and Piazza are definitely my favorite ones. The Piazza ones are great, made of very good quality steel, with a few pieces that make the tool very simple and durable. You always get the perfect scoop, in different capacity and always in an easy way. It is definitely the #1 ice-cream scoop in the market!!

Great tool for decoration! Instead of using two spoons, the oval scoop is much easier and faster. It looks really heavy duty and it has a nice grip.The capacity is on the side of the scoop and it is 1/30 of liter.
