Excellent retention, and works well with jeans
Nicely made hard, horse hide holster. Very thin, and looks like it was lightly formed for my revolver. So it might cause light printing in certain pants. Has a very effective hook at the top, and bottom, and keeps it in the pocket when wearing jeans. There's absolutely no sweating under the holster, it's very comfortable to carry. It is a bit expensive, but I'm well satisfied, and it's now my favorite pocket holster

Works Well if You Pocket Carry; Won't come out on Draw
UPDATE 6/24/2024: The Holster has broken in quite nicely; over time it conforms to the gun and the curve of the pocket against the leg. No problems at all. Would recommend. This is a bit spendy compared to the "sticky" black foam-type holsters. It is stiff when you first get it, but it loosens up and conforms to the gun and your pocket after a short time. It is designed with a curved section to act as a hook so it won't come out on a draw. Just bear in mind that you can't pull the gun and the holster out of your pocket together on purpose if you want to, which I guess is a testament to the quality and design. To remove the holster, you need to remove the gun first, then curl the curved section over itself somewhat to pull out the holster. So there is a certain amount of administrative handling of the weapon each time you want to get it and the holster out of your pocket. If you are comfortable with that, then this is a great pocket holster and there is virtually no chance of the holster accidentally coming out along with the gun.

WELL WORTH THE MONEY SPENT
$60.00 may at first seem like alot of money for a pocket holster, however, you will spend that amount and more over the years in inferior products. The design, craftsmanship, and history of this holster is legendary. The top and bottom "hooks" ensure that the holster remains in place as you draw your handgun (in my case a S&W J frame). It is a larger holster, yet very slim. It carrys very comfortably and securely, and will last a lifetime. Best worn in looser fitting trousers with deep pockets (cargo style is perfect), or dress trousers that the pocket has been altered by a taylor.

EDC Holster Works Like A Champ! See My Photos!
I bought this holster because of Galco's reputation for quality and design. You can certainly find a cheaper pocket holster, but you won't find a better one. So, which is the best EDC firearm? Answer: The one you will actually carry! For me, that means a J-Frame S&W Revolver, and this holster is a perfect match. The rough out design and twin ears ensures this holster will "stick" to the inside of your pocket. The smooth leather inner holster surface ensures a fast, snag-free draw when your life, or that of your loved ones, demands it. Note the last photo I uploaded. Even in linen trousers, my holstered sidearm is NOT "painted" against my front pocket. Even when sitting down, my sidearm remains comfortable and completely concealed. Great design, Galco. Many thanks.

nice but very wide
An example of Galco's high quality leather and craftmanship. However, this pocket holster is extremely wide. The barrel edge really needs to be cut back somehow. Won't fit in smaller pockets.

A very well made front pocket holster. It is one of the best holsters I've ever bought.
A very well made front pocket holster. It is one of the best holsters I've ever bought.I believe that the same holster works for either a J-Frame or a small auto-loading pistol, which is why there's only the one holster listed under the link.I'm still breaking this holster in, the horsehide leather is heavy, belt thickness leather which has been cured to be more rigid and stiff. As I wear it working around the house, the holster is slowly taking the shape of my J-frame and conforming to the right-hand curve of my right front pocket. The instructions cautioned against using any leather dressing or saturating it with water. Apparently just my perspiration and the skin oils it contains is enough to break in the holster. I did add a piece of 3/32" curved and fitted Kydex inside the right hand side of the holster to smooth out the shape of the gun and keep the horsehide from printing the shape of the cylinder through. No other modification has been necessary.I have a less expensive, synthetic material holster made for square bottomed wide pockets that works OK. I had to cut and stitch the right hand side of the synthetic holster to make conform better to the shape of my J-Frame's cylinder then turn in at the top to make the gun shape less obvious in thin fabric or more form fitting pants. This conceals my J-frame adequately. However the horsehide PH158 conceals my gun far better, even though it is not fully broken in yet. I expect my PH158 to be going strong long after the synthetic holster has broken down.I'm expecting this holster to get better as I carry it. It's taking a while to break in, but I guess that's the price we must pay for a premium holster. So far I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

The only j-frame holster you'll need
I live in the Old South, and for 8 months of the year, I wear shorts. This holster is a perfect fit in Levi Carrier cargo shorts' front pockets. Add a S&W 642, and the result is smooth draw & reholster without even thinking about it. I added CT-305 grips to the 642. The butt end is visible in the pocket, but not enough of it so's that anyone can tell what it is. The only oddity is some leather squeaking with movement as I walk. Barely noticeable, and I'm pretty sure this will fade away as the leather becomes more supple. I'm very pleased with every Galco (holster I've bought so far. They are good value.
