The CPT00977 is the same thing, renumbered with a trane part number. and yes, that should be the correct capacitor for your unit. You can call Trane and ask them questions, they will usually answer, they can't sell to you unless you are a contractor though.

if i cut the power off will there be any charge to shock me or not?

Do a youtube search. Plenty of info. You need to use an insulated screwdriver to discharge the power. Replacing these is very easy and will save you large dollars, but safety first.

Hi, an hvac inspector told me i needed a capacitor, dual 440v 35/5 uf, 3% +/- accuracy? will this work?

Hi, This worked fine on my Trane heatpump. I believe the variance on it is slightly higher - the "5" is for +/- 5% - compared to the +/- 3% your were instructed to buy. Honestly, I know just enough to be dangerous - most house current varies 10% anyway from 110v to 120v, and everything works fine, so I'm not sure why you would NEED 3% compared to 5%. I replaced the Trane capacitor years ago, and its been running fine since - quick and cheap fix versus having a repairman come out for a couple hundred.
