How far should this bulb be placed from the canopy?

It depends! Seedlings, vegging, bloom and sensitivity to heat and light sort of determine where the sweet spot will be. I stuck the UV in during bloom, went back to look and the 14" I had them at made it look like a chemical dump forest in a scifi movie after 2 hours. Wil this cover a 3x3 tent?

I have 1 in a 2x4 area at 18” above canopy and it’s on during the entire light-on period. I will add a second one soon.

So if these lights are placed above your grow lights does that affect the penetration of the uvb?

Uv Light cannot travel through any objects and has a limited range of about 4 or 5 feet from the lamp…..mine are 3 feet from canopy at the same height as my lights and and they will easily burn plants with UV if I don’t set them to 5 or 6 …- 15 min intervals to limit daily exposure …..and yes you will see the difference in oil production if you do this properly
