I've been using it for a few days so far and it works well and is very quiet. Also the guy who said it wouldn't fit a 17" laptop was wrong, it fits mine quite comfortably. It's lightweight and comfortable to use on my lap, and I've been surprised at how well it distributes the weight of my bulky laptop so it doesn't make my legs hurt, unlike some regular lap desks. I also like the fact that it doesn't have bright lights. But the best part and the reason I got it is because I can set my laptop down on my bed or another soft surface and not worry about it overheating! It keeps my laptop room temperature to the touch and the laptop's internal fans haven't kicked on once. Can't really comment on durability yet, except that I've leaned on it accidentally a couple times and it made a plastic crack sound but nothing seemed to be broken afterward, so it must've just been the plastic shifting. All in all, so far I'm happy with the performance for the price.

The Targus 17-inch Dual Fan Lap Chill Mat is the second chill mat I have purchased for my laptop. The first chill pad was a different brand. In my opinion, the Targus chill mat is a superior product to my first chill pad. The operation of the fans is quiet, and they run consistently without issue. I have not had an issue with my laptop feeling hot since I stated using the chill pad. The pad on the bottom of the chill mat provides a soft and comfortable barrier for the lap while working with laptop on lap. At first I had difficulty locating the USB cord that connects to the laptop and thought it had not been included in the package. On further exploration, the USB cord was located tucked securely between the plastic top of the mat and the soft neoprene bottom. The chill pad is not bulky or difficult to manipulate. It has bumpers to keep the computer in place which, based on my experience, could be improved on. I may add my own silicon pads. Overall, I am extremely pleased with my purchase and at this point I would not hesitate to buy one again.

I REALLY LIKE THIS LAPTOP COOLER. FANS ARENT VERY LOUD. IT ARRIVED TODAY AND IS ALREADY MAKING MY LAPTOP RUN COOLER. CAN TELL JUST BY THE TOP OF LAPTOP BEING COOL TO TOUCH INSTEAD OF WARM TO VERY WARM. I-7 PROCESSORS DO TEND TO RUN HOT IN LAPTOPS. TARGUS HAS A GREAT REPUTATION. I WOULD GIVE IT 5 STARS BUT SINCE ITS DAY ONE I CAN'T COMMENT ON LONGEVITY. HAVING HAD EXPERIENCE WITH TARGUS BEFORE THEY APPEAR TO LAST LONGER THEN THE OTHER CHEAPLY MADE BRANDS. GOT IT ON SPECIAL. NO SILLY LED LIGHTS TO PLAY WITH. PLUG AND PLAY. THERE IS A LITTLE OVERHANG OFF THE SIDES WITH A 17 INCH LAPTOP BUT PLENTY OF ROOM FOR FRONT TO BACK. AND WHEN ITS NOT SITTING ON THE BED MY LAP STAYS COOL ALSO. LOL ON SPECIAL IT WASNT MUCH MORE THEN THE CHEAPER MADE GLITZY LED LIGHTED MODELS. IF I WAS TO COMPLAIN IT WOULD BE THAT THE BASE IS MADE OUT OF A THICK PLACTIC WHICH MIGHT CUT DOWN ON WEIGHT BUT I HAVE HAD TARGUS LAPTOP CHILLERS THAT WERE MADE OF ALUMINUM AND THIS IS ACTUALLY MORE COMFORTABLE SITTING IN MY LAP. THE BUILT IN USB CORD FOR USB POWERED . ONE REVIEWER SAID HIS ORIGINAL LASTED 6 YEARS WITH NO CLEANING OF THE FANS. THEY CAN BE REMOVED AND CLEANED PERIODICALLY SO THER IS LESS STRESS ON THEM. AND THEY ARE SECURELY SCREWED IN PLACE SO THOSE PESKY CLIP ON FANS DONT FAL OFF LIKE SOME OTHERS. THANKS TARGUS.

I can't recommend this laptop chill mat more highly, especially if you have a "lower end" laptop with those all too fragile hinges. I originally purchased this because I frequently rest my laptop on my legs and didn't like how warm it was. This device works wonderfully to fix that problem. An added benefit that I hadn't thought about originally is that by having a solid *portable* foundation under my laptop that means that when I pick up my laptop I am not putting any stress on the hinges; I am carrying the foundation, not my laptop directly. My husband has gone through a couple of laptops because the hinges have broken and then the screen has come apart due to carrying the laptop while open. This solid foundation under the laptop eliminates the stress put on the hinges if carrying it while it is open, or carrying it with one side. I love the neoprene cover as it's soft and comfortable on bare skin, and I love that the profile is effective without being "noticeable" or adding to weight or bulk. I don't think I could have come up with a better design, and if you're a person who moves your laptop around much, this device will save the stress on your hinges and screen. Highly recommend, even if you don't think you "need" it at the moment. Use it preventatively! It's completely worth it!

I love this cooling pad. Initially I was concerned about the foam on it, fearing that my laptop (IdeaPad) might be too hot for it. It is not. You do not have to adjust the height and it is a comfortable height for sitting on my lap. My husband says that it is very quiet and quieter than my Kooteck Cooling pad. I do miss having extra USB ports that the Kootech has but am still very happy with this. Theire are bumps on the pad which keep my laptop from moving around. It is fairly lightweight as well compared the the Kooteck and is very comfortable on my lap. Most importantly, it keeps my laptop cool which I find amazing. Believe me, I'm checking it to right now and the bottom of the laptop is not hot. The one fan works fine and the air flow is great.

Overall it's just okay. The surface that your computer sits on is a slick plastic. All that's meant to keep your machine from sliding around is four rubber (?) standoffs. But they are also pretty smooth and don't grip the laptop at all. My laptop just slides all around them. Fans are quiet and it seems to cool okay, but that's about it.

This cooling pad works exactly the way it should. The dual fans push out plenty of airflow and keep my laptop noticeably cooler, even during gaming and long work sessions. It’s quiet, lightweight, and the soft neoprene bottom makes it really comfortable to use on my lap. The 17-inch size fits my laptop perfectly with room to spare. Plug-and-play with USB power is simple and reliable. If you need a solid cooling mat that actually drops your temps, this one is worth it.

This is a great laptop cooling pad and does exactly what I wanted. Most cooling pads are hard plastic with pointy legs. I actually use my laptop on my lap, so these other types are very uncomfortable. The Targus chill mat is very soft and comfortable, while still being rigid and supportive. Just a thin layer of cushion on both sides makes all the difference. I did have to get used to the increase in height but it is worth while. And most importantly, it WORKS. My Dell laptop would get So hot very quickly that it was uncomfortable both on the top and the bottom. As soon as I plug in the fan it is cooled off within just a couple minutes. I highly recommend this cooling pad. I don't know how long it will last. I often forget to unplug the fan when I stop using the laptop because it is SO SILENT so it runs overnight. I Have to lift the laptop and put my hand over it to tell if the fans are running. Overall very pleased. I paid full price for this and am not compensated for this review, just a happy customer.
