SEYMOUR 620-1407 Industrial MRO High Solids Spray Paint, Red Iron Oxide Primer

I've used MRO flat black and yellow paints and I've been impressed so far. The paint coverage is excellent. After 2-3 coats you have a good looking and durable finish. It does take a surprisingly long time to cure, however. It dries to the touch in a couple of hours, but the finish is still pretty soft and will scratch easily for a day or more. I would err on the side of giving it a weak to cure before putting it through any hard use. I attempted to bake cure in a dehydrator (sub 200 degree F temperature), but that results in wrinkles in the finish, so I do not recommend that. I swear that the yellow has a hint of banana smell Overall, the paint works well.

Love this company. My photos are of the dark green color atop the primer. I use it on cast iron and also on this old rusty bench I picked up at the dump. The primer levels pretty freakin smooth. As does the paint enamel. Yes it takes a while to dry, be patient. I’m in the south so I paint it in the evening outside to let it dry overnight, then let it cure in the blasting hot sun all day. It sets hard as a rock. The primer & paint in the can does go a long way, thankfully, and didn’t get clogged. Nice even spray. Adhesion was fantastic. Everything I repainted was either an antique or rusty, and while I did spray the metal with the power washer before hand to remove loose old paint chips & dirt, but I didn’t sand smooth or anything like that. I don’t mind texture on antique cast iron. My intention for buying this paint was protection & durability. And this company provides both of those things. I really am enjoying the dark green paint color. It dries a little darker than when initially wet. Both pictures I posted are the same dark green color, the bench is in direct sun, the porch posts I’m making into an arbor is in the shade when I took the photo. It is lively, elegant, and to me has more appeal than black- Especially on outdoor metal

This Seymour MRO is good paint, it's not as spectacular as i was expecting it to be. Coverage is good but not excellent, better than a rustoleum industrial can though. The finish is smooth and is really helped by some polish after it fully cures. The worst part about this can is the spray tip, it sprays a decent fan, but is stiff and uncomfortable as all heck. Swapping tips or using one of those 'paint gun' type attachments may be a decent idea. I'm happy overall with this paint, it did what I wanted it to do and the color is exactly what I wanted. (In my picture the 'grit' in the dimples is intentional and has nothing to do with the Seymour paint)

Good rattle can paint. Lays down nice

This "Seymour MRO High Solids" spray paint is amazing. It has extremely good coverage, it hides everything, it's self-leveling, quick-drying, and the finish is smooth, non-reflective, and durable. It doesn't drip, pool, or run unless you put on a ridiculously thick coat. It's a very forgiving paint; apply this correctly and you'll be happy every time. It dries as hard as rock, like a powder-coated finish. Super hard, super durable. Here's the key to using this paint: plan on giving whatever you're painting one good, even coat. Other paints typically tell you to build up multiple thin coats, but don't use this stuff that way. One nice, thick, smooth coat with 100% coverage is what you're aiming for. Shake the can well and keep shaking it as you paint. Spray any little nooks and crannies first, give the rest a good solid coat, and then STOP. Put the can down. DON'T keep spraying and spraying and spraying- do your best to get *everything* covered on the first glorious layer. If you can, immediately cover the object with a box or other shield to prevent dust from ruining the finish. Leave it for ~30 mins until it's no longer tacky. You can go back and do touch-ups, but my suggestion is to let the original coat dry a little bit first , and then very gingerly hit any missed areas. I use this for painting the inside/outside of PC cases and it's always done a super job. One coat really does it all. I don't give many 5-star reviews but this is great stuff; highly recommended!

This paint is thick (high solids), takes a lot of shaking to get it mixed. Three thin coats works best. Very even finish. Turned it upside down and sprayed to clear the nozzle after painting as per the instructions, and wiped the tip off with alcohol. No clogging or sputtering issues at all. Flat black, but with a very slight sheen which looks pretty good to me. Needs to cure for a couple of days, but worth the wait.

I usually try not to write bad reviews about products unless the customer service sucks or the product sucks. For this one it's the latter. Let me start off by saying I've been rattle canning for a while. I got plenty of painted projects I've done with rattle cans. I tried this brand because it has tons of great reviews; plus, the end result looks amazing. I unfortunately did not have the same experience. So I made sure to follow all the directions. I even have a rattle can machine that shakes my cans for me. After spraying the primer, I expected this stuff to be about the same spray pattern as the same branded primer. That was a fail... Once I started laying down some paint, I started thinking my pointer finger was getting tired. I could barely press the sprayer. I realized it wasn't me. It was the freakin sprayer. Even finger lifting champion couldn't press that nozzle down for extended periods of time. I tried my best but it came out terrible. I was getting drips of paint on my project and the spray pattern itself was super narrow. I must have gotten a bad batch but man was I disappointed. I'm literally writing this as the paint is drying. That's how mad I am about this stuff. Hopefully everyone else has better luck but I'm sticking with other brands from now on....
