Tasty and refreshing ready mixed gin gimlet cocktail (but you're paying for the convenience)
I am a little too fond of cocktails and am very partial to gin but had never tried a gin gimlet before so when this came up, I was very keen to try it.This is a pre-mixed gin gimlet cocktail mix, made with Bombay Sapphire gin (which happens to be one of my gins of choice), lime juice and elderflower cordial. It's 14.9% proof and I did feel that kick but I'm speaking as a bit of a lightweight. I definitely got the taste of elderflower and there was a hint of lime too.The serving instructions say to shake and serve over ice in a coupe glass. I didn't have one so used a martini glass and it was absolutely fine. Because I am a lightweight, I served it over a lot of ice, which does work to dilute the alcohol and I should say that for all that, it did keep the flavour. You get 500ml in the bottle, which the instructions say give you 4 cocktails. For the price (£15.00 at the time of review) that does work out significantly cheaper than buying a cocktail in a bar and it's not that much more than buying the ingredients individually and making one fresh yourself. Basically, you're paying for the convenience and for that I think this is worth it.

A beautiful bottle with unique contents!
Tasted something like a cheap white wine mixed with flat lemonade, in fact this didn't taste like gin at all - which if you struggle with gin, then this might be a good introduction for you. If you are a gin lover however, then this might not be your top choice. It does however have the advantage of being quite unique, which means that it can be a real experience. Sometimes you just want a different drink, and if that is you, then this might be the right purchase. A great design of bottle which will look good on your drinks shelf!

Tail of the unexpected.
You are supposed to mix this with ice and then shake it, before straining the remaining ice off. We don’t have a shaker so we kept it in the fridge and then stuck a couple of ice cubes in it. It’s very tasty, and I say that as somebody who likes neither gin, nor lime. Fortunately my wife likes both, but if you’re like me you won’t find either taste overwhelming. The Gimlet is 14.9% proof, so not much stronger than most wines. A couple of small glasses should be enough for us, but in theory you could drink the whole bottle I guess. Not that I’m suggesting you do it of course.Very nice, and I happily recommend it.

Pre-mixed gin gimlet
It seems that pre-mixed cocktails are starting to gain a bit of traction with different examples gradually starting to emerge from a handful of different companies, and here we have Tail's Cocktails take on the eternal Gin Gimlet.Whether pre-mixed cocktails are necessarily a good, bad or neutral thing rather depends on personal taste and how much you value a minor (because it is only minor) convenience. The problem is that you are automatically beholden to the manufacturer's mix. If you don't like the particular balance chosen -you're up that famous creek. In this case, we have a version of a Gin Gimlet made using Bombay Sapphire Gin as the base, lime juice (natch) and what is euphemistically described as a 'hint' of elderflower liqueur'.Hmm. Yes. 'A hint', is it? Not to my palate it isn't. The elderflower makes its presence immediately known on opening: it's very floral, actually overpowering the lime. This isn't necessarily a surprise -the original Gimlet was not actually an especially citrus dominated drink, and was actually quite sweet as the lime was technically lime cordial, or fresh lime mixed roughly 50/50 to simple syrup. So the nose isn't surprising. Shaking over ice and straining, the elderflower again immediately makes for a dominant flavour on first tasting. It's as sweet as an original Gimlet (very sweet), with to my palate a strange, artificial taste to that -almost saccharin. This is not an ingredient -just how it tastes to me. A hint of lime comes through, albeit rather like a lime-flavour boiled sweet as a back-note to the elderflower. The Bombay Sapphire gin lurks in the background with its usual curiously 'cold' profile, giving some faint botanical hints.Would I buy? To be honest, no. This mix is not to my taste. I like elderflower, but there's too much for me, and the Bombay Sapphire gin just isn't giving the kind of crisper edge or complexity I personally prefer, while the strange, almost artificial edge on my palate (others will have different experiences) detracts from the rest. So despite the convenience, I'd still rather make my own, for little extra work, the grand total of one or two additional bottles, and end up with a drink that I know is tailored to my own taste. Your mileage, as always, may vary.

Too good to miss!
I hadn't tried this before, but I enjoyed itThe delicious mix of flavours and strength of drink are what you expect at a top cocktail bar and one I have never come across pre-made in a bottle before. You can just drink it alone, on ice or with tonicA beautiful drink - we love it! Quite unusual taste, but really moreish. A delicious ready made cocktail which is readily available for your immediate gratification.Great value as well.

Tasty but expensive
This is very tasty. The problem is that it is pre-mixed so it is very expensive. It needs to be left in the fridge to chill.
