Awesome printer, easy to setup and use! Nice work Epson on creating an nice and easy to use printer!
The printer arrived fast from Amazon and the WiFi connected flawlessly via "wsp" button on the first attempt (dgnd3700 router).. My business cards and invoices came to life and look amazing. The Intuitive menus are easy to navigate through and I recommend this for home/office users. First setup the wireless or usb connection, next a webpage will populate on your computer showing many features to install, select updates and firmware first thing to update the printer and pc with necessary components and apps...easy to do! The remote email printing is nice feature; Epson will utilize an email address like [email protected] to forward emails to the printer to print out (if the power in standby mode and connected wireless). I liked this feature so much I purchased a second printer for my parents, now they can receive my hand selected emails of entertainment, recipes, weather events or important emails. The Iprint app was simplistic to add to my S4 phone, now I can print photos, documents, scan a document to my S4 while connected on the home network. Cons: I only use the printer to print wireless; if you want to send/scan/copy to PC you have to connect a USB cable, small paper tray. Pros: Compact foot print, covers fold up nice, prints quick, easy to load cartridges, easy access inside of printer and back side, CD/DVD printer tray included to print on ink jet type CD/DVD, easy wireless connection to your PC (multitude of wireless setup configurations) Email printing and Iprint app's are just a few of things you can loaded from the setup webpage. As a technology manager this printer is awesome!

3 units and it is still not working
To keep me from going postal on a printer (Office space style!) I am writing a rare product review while on hold with EPSON support... SUMMARY: Printer broke. EPSON sent 2(!) replacement printers that did not work. Waiting for printer #4... DETAILS: I bought it in October 2013. Supposedly a consumer reports favorite. It worked quite nicely at first, except that it did require ink cartridge change after about 50 pages. (The support claimed this was a first-time thing as the ink was used to fill the pipes although I am not too convinced about that.). In January 2014, it stopped working. The papers were no longer being pulled up from the tray. After a long trouble shooting session with EPSON phone support, they agreed to ship a replacement unit. 2nd unit arrives including new ink cartridges. This printer only printed blue. I called EPSON support again. After a long time on the phone they wanted to ship me a 3rd unit. 3rd unit arrives. They promised overnight, but it took 3 days. I am using all new cartridges that came in the box. It works for 20 (not more!) regular text pages. Then I get a message saying I need to replace the large black ink cartridge! I do so. It continues to work for black & white for another 5 pages. I try to do a color copy. Only some colors are present. I perform the "clean nozzle head" operation twice. It's better but still not OK. I am thinking EPSON supplied stale ink cartridges so now I replace all of them with new original cartridges. Same result. I call support. After some trouble shooting they want to send me a 4th unit. At this point, I realize that the problem might be due to EPSON sending refurbished replacement units. Perhaps old ink is clogging the nozzles. I point that out and I ask for some kind of compensation. The rep contacts customer relations. That's where we are now....! Update: After 20 minute wait, I they promise to make an exception and -- ta-da -- actually send a new printer. They will also send 2 packs of cartridges. UPDATE 5/20, 2015: ------------------------------------------- So, the fourth printer worked. Still working, it prints nice-looking pages but I can't say I like this printer very much. For example: - About 1-2 times per month it goes to an "offline" status. When this happens the support guy said the remedy is uninstall and then re-install the printer driver again. No idea why this happens. - It has an automatic software update function which is so annoying that I had to turn it off. It would appear once a week at least and then take forever to run. - It stops for paper jam (1 of 10), but when I check there is nothing there. I re-start and sometimes that works. - All these plastic flaps and drawers are flimsy. I always think I might break something when moving it around. Although it does work so far. In retrospect I should have bought a sturdy printer that just produces a basic OK black-white print but does it every time! Do they exist? And then another printer (like this EPSON) for photos etc. UPDATE 10/4, 2016: ------------------------------------------- The printer worked OK up until about 6 months ago although it still consumes lots of ink. In But six months the issue with "printer going off-line" started to happen about every other time I use it. I already called Epson support on that two years ago and their solution was to re-install the printer (i.e. via the Windows control panel) which often means manually typing in the IP address. Sometimes I cannot even do the uninstall. Tried some tips on online forums but to no avail. Do I need to get another printer before paper becomes obsolete?

Flexible and useful
I got this to replace an older Canon all-in-one printer. I must confess that I've been a longtime fan of Canon, and have been ever since they changed the game by introducing their Bubblejet printers. Those made dot matrix printers obsolete by giving you near laser printer quality from an inkjet. Their built in scanners and printers have also been steadily improving. More recently I've been using an Epson B11B198011 Perfection V600 Photo Scanner and have found Epson's scanner quality to be remarkable. The scanner in this unit won't rival that one, since it lacks the capability to scan slides and negatives, and doesn't have a second infrared element to eliminate dust. But for office use, having something with a flat bed scanner and a good duplex sheet feeder is far more practical. Although Canon found their sheet feeder very reliable in tests, I found that in real world usage when you are scanning stacks of paper that came in the mail folded in thirds, the Epson scanner works better without jamming or having paper fall off after being scanned. The print quality is also quite good, but more importantly for me is that it offers the flexibility to print from just about anything. I can print from any PC on my network, from my iPad, iPhone, Android phone or even print by sending it an email. I can print using the cloud with Google. I can even print on printable CDs with ease. With my older Canons, they were designed for CDs but didn't offer that feature in the US. Printing CDs required getting a European CD caddy and applying an unofficial EU firmware patch. Canon was also an early adopter of separate ink cartridges for each color with print heads separate from the ink cartridge, which is now fairly standard and has been a long time feature of Epson printers. Nevertheless, ink isn't exactly cheap. The display is more intelligent than past units and makes it easy to copy, fax, or scan directly to any computer on the network with drivers installed. And scanning directly from a PC can be done with a utility that can be set for simple use or more complex but highly tailorable use, depending on your needs. The unit has a slot for SD cards, which also makes them available over the network for reading and writing. All in all, this gives you a lot of capability for the money, a lot of flexibility, and does it all with a very small footprint. Although it won't replace every printer and scanner I own, it makes for a very good home office tool.

Great compact printer.
This is a very nice multi-function printer. It can fax, copy, scan, print and print on CD/DVD/BD's. It has a very compact footprint so it doesn't take up too much space and it comes at a very reasonable price. I bought it to replace an HP (C309a) multi-function which I really liked as far as how it was at least supposed to work. In reality it had many problems with function. You could not scan, copy or fax without locking up the printer unless you cycled power each time before attempting to use it, a real pain. This particular HP could also print on CD/DVD/BD's which is a function I wanted. HP no longer makes a printer that can print on discs so I had to look for another brand of printer. This is the first non-HP printer I have owned since 1994 but HP's lack of responsiveness to the problems with their printer (it was discussed in much detail in the HP support forums) as well as not making a model that will print on discs tipped me over to another brand. So far I really like this Epson, it will just take some getting used to the differences but Epson may be my new go-to brand. Update 08/10/2015: This Epson printer has been working just as it should, no hiccups. The only complaint I have is how fast it consumes ink cartridges. The HP was the same though so that's not a problem specific to the Epson and not specific to only Epson and HP. The standard cartridges go very fast. The high-capacity cartridges are better but still go too fast. It wouldn't be a problem if the cartridges were more reasonably priced but the brand name cartridges from any manufacturer are not. Just like HP and the rest, the manufacturer recommends against using the generics but they are much cheaper. So far I have resisted using generics but that may change. Functionally though it's so much nicer not having to worry about your printer locking up every time you want to use it. This Epson's print quality is also very good and the print on discs function is flawless. I'm able to use Roxio's label creator to print on discs, I had to modify one of the pre-existing printer profiles to make it work since there is no existing profile for this model printer, but it works fine. So I am able to still recommend this printer and keep it's rating at 5 stars.

Good Photo printer but...
Bought from Amazon. Great photo printer in a small footprint at a good price, It is both quiet and compact and regular copies are fast. My problem with this unit is that it sucks ink like crazy. The printer will not work when a color cartridge is empty. It always needs to suck a bit of color ink as well to keep the printer working. That's right, no black & white printing if the yellow, cyan, magenta, or photo black ink cartridge is low. Epson inks are very expensive for this printer and generic cartridges either leak, do not work, or suck dry quickly.

Small but mighty
The XP-810 replaces a five-year-old Epson Artisan 800 which worked very well but always seemed to be rather fragile. A couple minor things broke the first year but I still used it. Recently it "swallowed" a whole DVD I was trying to print on; the tray came back out without the DVD disc on it! Hmmm! The unit then refused to turn on ever again. (Indigestion?) BUT, so far I am very happy with the replacement new XP-810. It does everything the older Artisan 800 did, plus has much better color printing (the Claria inks - not cheap). The unit seems to arrived with all full ink cartridges, NOT the almost empty "starter cartridges" some reviewers have complained about. The unit is much smaller than the old one but seems very solidly built and works very quietly. The old unit's noisy mechanically moving CD-DVD tray for printing is replaced now by a manual tray (like they used years ago) but that means less machinery to operate & break. I was leery of going back to the manual tray concept for printing DVDs, but they seem to have perfected this method, and it works wonderfully well. Never a problem. I print on CDs & DVDs a lot so that is important to me. Epson's Scan software and Print software remains the best in the business. (Canon should die of shame on that score.) The big bright LCD screen is very useful, though I mostly use the printer and scanner functions via my computer. I currently have the XP-810 and for pro big printing I have their 17" Stylus Pro 3880. VERY happy with both; Epson is always my primary choice. I also have a 10-year-old Canon i9900, adequate for workaday chores -- and it just chugs along without problems, but for important work the two Epsons can't be beat. I can't judge the much- ballyhooed Wireless functions; the Epson does not work with my dual-band Netgear R6300 which is "ac" standard only. I was not aware of that until after the 810 arrived. However, I have no need of its Wireless abilities at all. A good old USB 2 cable (Epson, why not use USB 3?) works just fine and is 100% reliable. All in all, I only have a couple tiny picky complaints, but I do highly recommend this Epson model. --Larry in Wickenburg, AZ

Great Printer
I have had this Epson printer for over 3 years now and it works great. It works better than the HP printer it replaced and the ink last longer. That is even better than the HP printers. So far no issues with the Epson printer. We don't use it that much, but when we do, it starts right up and prints with no issues, which is what you want in a printer. I used to have so much issues with the HP printer as the cartridges would expired with plenty of ink in them. But not with this Epson printer. The ink cartridges are bigger and hold more ink and they last a long time with no message from the printer telling you that need to install new ink cartridge because it expired like in the HP printers. I will never again buy a HP printer as their ink cartridge are expensive, small, don't last long and come with an expiration date and you cannot use them after that date.

Uses WAY too much ink!
This printer is fast! And prints beautifully, 5 stars. But does it ever use the ink, a 2 star deduction. I don't use it all that much and I just ordered my second set of XL cartridges, at $100 for all five all because it stopped printing correctly, a 1 star deduction. My last printer was a Canon MP560. It was extremely slow, and extremely slow when printing anything. The documents and docs with graphics printed better than than Epson, but the Epson way out performs it when printing pictures. The pictures off the Epson, look like they were printed at a store. This printer uses so much ink, and I am having so many issues with it, that I'm seriously thinking about buying the HP equal. The ink cartridges are at least twice as big as my old Canon. I changed out cartridges the cartridges on my Canon maybe, every 8 months. I don't print that many pictures, I take them to a store to be processed. I bought this printer in late February. The number of photos, 4x6 and 5x7s that have been printed are between 20 and 30, but more towards the 20 figure. I have printed approximately 30 documents with graphics and another 30 without, that is on the high side also. I have gone through the five ink cartridges that were included; the second BK cartridge is empty; and the other four are between 1/2 and 2/3 full and they are the XL's. Most of the ink usage was from cleaning the heads today; trying to get it to print correctly. As you may or may not read my email below, I had to do four cleanings today; using 30% of the ink in all of the XL cartridges; and it still isn't working. This all happened after I installed a yellow ink cartridge that I purchased from Epson. Two of the five cartridges were shipped when they were already a year and four months old. The other three were just four months old. The two that I am having issues with are the two that were over a year and four months old. The following is the email I sent to Epson right before I wrote this review: Problem: The yellow ink cartridge was not working. I bought it from you on March 2, 2014 order#: WB-022361050. My pictures, 3 of them, were printing with a horrible blue tint. After the print head alignment and a nozzle check, I realized that the yellow ink cartridge was not printing. I bought it from you on March 2, 2014 order#: WB-022361050. All of the ink cartridges were purchased at the same time. The printer shows that the yellow and PBK cartridges were produced 2012/11, one year and 4 months before I purchased them. All of the other cartridges were 2013/11. They should have all been 2013/11. What I did: I replaced the yellow cartridge the other day and the magenta a couple of weeks ago. I aligned the heads, nozzle check (as previously mentioned), and cleaned the heads a total of FOUR times and the printer still isn't printing correctly. First cleaning: I did this after the nozzle check failed to print the yellow square. I cleaned the heads, and printed the nozzle check; and again, there was no yellow square. I took the yellow cartridge out and wiped the surfaces with a soft micro fiber cloth. Second cleaning: Yellow started to print, and now the magenta & PBK are not printing and both were perfect on the prior two nozzle checks. Third Cleaning: Magenta is mostly printing, a few missing dots, but no PBK. Pulled the PBK out, cleaned it as I cleaned the yellow cartridge. I made sure that all of the cartridges were seated correctly and placed in firmly; and made sure the printer head was seated and placed correctly. Fourth Cleaning: The magenta is printing perfectly, but the PBK is still not printing anything; it is blank. I took the PBK out and tried cleaning the contacts again. I noticed that my BK cartridge was running very low, so I tried just a nozzle check instead of a cleaning. Now... the BK needs replacement and I am STUCK and CANNOT do ANYTHING! I ordered ink earlier today, before all of this happened. So now I will wait 6-11 days for my order to arrive. Then I'll have to clean the heads again??? AND WASTE more ink? These are XL cartridges and I have used a third of my ink on cleaning, the yellow and the magenta were new and showed full; they have used a full third of the ink tank for this fiasco. This, should NOT EVER happen! We only use this printer for pictures and documents with graphs, and we don't print all that many of either of them. And now I'm on my second purchase of XL inks, at $100 a pop??? I read in the reviews that the printer used a lot of ink, but XL cartridges using that much ink for head cleaning? This is totally OUTRAGEOUS and beyond compare! We have had numerous HP inkjet printers, but got tired of buying the whole print head every time. The last printer was a Canon MP560 and none of our inkjets have EVER used this much ink, EVER. I'm ready to through this printer out the window! And I will do just that and return the ink that I ordered earlier, IF your answer to this problem, is to do another cleaning. New printers are cheap and HP doesn't use near this much ink and they are by far much cheaper to operate, even the Canon was cheaper to operate, if they weren't so slow I would have purchased another one. this review will be updated if Epson makes this right and sends me two replacement cartridges
