Can you attach this to a tripod or some sort of stand?

Yes you can. I bought a mini tripod that only ads about 2.5 inches to the height. It screws directly into the bottom of the battery. I actually keep it on the stand in my office. Make sure you get the correct 3/8th inch screw size
