Worked great for my '99 TJ
Used to replace the boot for my 1999 TJ. It works great - but some things to know: 1) the holes are not pre-drilled through the rubber boot. Look underneath and pull back the rubber edge to see the hole options -- punch through the ones you need. 2) As some noted, this might fit loose at the top. The original shifter lever had a ~6" foam sleeve which provided insulation and kept the outer boot up tall on the lever (look at part 7 on most of the TJ manual shifter assembly photos). If you don't have the sleeve you can skip it or try to replace it. I used pipe insulation (like you'd use for copper plumbing) as an alternative.

Fit correct for 99 tj
It fit like original except you need to keep old ones to drill bolt holes to attach. Other than looks and fits like original. Easy replacement even with drilling holes in base of inner shifter boot, took like 15-20 mins to install.

Great Value
Installed on a 2001 TJ. Took a bit of effort to line everything up with prior screw holes but was easy enough.

Works great.
Worked like the original. Some comments about not having the screw holes but they are punched in the steel ring. Use a nail to punch through the rubber.

With some basic mods this will work with 6 speed manual 05/06 TJ's.
I have a 06 TJ Wrangler and the OEM inner shifter boots are a nightmare. I replaced mine 2 times to only have the boots split and fall apart within a month. Being a creative person I experimented with a few aftermarket inner boots of different shapes and sizes. After a few fails I decided to by this boot. I cut an aluminium sheet to fit the opening in the tunnel of the TJ. I proceeded to find the location where the shifter runs through the aluminium plate and then I use a 100mm holesaw to drill a large tidy hole through the aluminium. I then marked where the screws go through the rubber boot and drilled the holes and inserted some rivnuts/zertnuts into the holes. I fixed the rubber boot to the plate and it worked perfectly. The boot has been in the car for over a year now and it is still intact and working as it should. If you do this mod then make sure you use foam rubber with adhesive on one side to form a seal between the plate and the tunnel metal. Its a conversion you wont regret. This will stop water entering the car and it will also eliminate the extreme heat that enters the cabin from the catalytic converter, transmission and engine. If you feel your center console where the shifter is located and if it is hot then you know your boot needs replacing. Same thing if your front carpets get wet when it rains. Dont pay $300 plus for an OEM boot that will fail soon after you install it. Do this mod for under $50 and you wont regret it. Also these cheaper earlier model boots are readily available on the net unlike the 05/06 TJ inner boots which is becoming harder to find. Ive tried and tested this early model boot and it can be done and it does work well. I hope that this review helps my fellow 05/06 TJ buddies worldwide. Keep Jeeping and go topless with a smile on your faces my friends. ;-)
