Is the end part of whip coated? The one I have now isn't and I get a black film on my fingers

Ruff n Ready is correct. The whip itself is ss but the part that attaches to the machine is NOT and it does chemically react in the dishwasher (from the dw detergent). Always hand wash or spend too much time getting the black film off like I did after someone, (who shall remain nameless) put it through the dishwasher. Never again.

Is this safe to put in dishwasher, or will it oxidize like the original one does?

Thanks Mary! Frustrating for sure. You saved me time returning. .The product info lists “stainless steel” everywhere. I do not see anywhere that it’s not dishwasher safe. We have to assume it’s not? I am sure there’s warning on a paper after you receive the item. The anodized dust gets on your hands probably in the food. It happens with only one washing.

Will this fit the k45ss

It does fit on this but does not scrap the sides. I would not recommend ordering this for that mixer. I have to order a new one as I was unable to return this as well.
