Fantastic Sound, Full of Functionality
Set-up was easy including using my iPhone to speed up the process, there are so many features that it’s taken me a couple of weeks to fully get the hang of everything. There’s support for 2 optical inputs so perfect for your tv, an in-built streamer which you can control with the HEOS app to play ultra-high quality audio, Bluetooth support although you’ll probably want to use the streaming facility instead for the high-quality audio and so much more. It has a phono input which is perfect for a turntable, however from my experience the sound was a little dull and flat, so I use a dedicated pre-amp and input into the ‘aux’ RCA port which makes my vinyl sound fantastic. Sound in general offers brilliant clarity and depth, there’s a tonne of input options all in one neat package. It’s a clever box full of tricks that sounds amazing, fully recommend!

Great amplifier
After reading all reviews about this amp I decided to purchase and I have not been disappointed. Looks great set up with cd player and turn table. Great match for my KEF speakers and internet radio to boot.

Although I don't claim to a card-carrying audiophile, music is a huge part of my life and I want to be able to really hear my music in detail. I had been using a vintage stereo system using a very high end old amp and preamp powering my beloved vintage Large Advent Loudpeakers that I bought in 1975 and have had re-coned three times to date. I have been wanting to be able to take advantage of the availability of Apple's ALAC codec which requires an amp with an internal or external Digital Analog Converter and the ability to wirelessly stream High-Resolution audio files - a Bluetooth connection is not capable. I also wanted an amp that would sound as good as my audiophile quality vintage system. This Marantz PM7000N has truly been an incredible upgrade. Most importantly, the amp powers my Advents perfectly and runs four sets of speakers well. Even though the PM7000N is 70 watts per channel RMS, the sound is at least as good as my old rig that delivered 150 watts RMS per channel of very clean, distortion-free power at volumes levels I enjoy. Because the amp has a descent internal DAC, that requirement was satisfied. Although it did take a call to Marantz support (which was excellent) I can now wirelessly stream all of the Apple Music Hi-Res Lossless files using an Apple 9th iPad as my source. I absolutely love the sound! Even at very low volume I get excellent sound throughout the range I am able to hear and, with my old Advents, a subwoofer is not needed. At a higher volume I am amazed at how well the amp performs. The ability to have eliminated so many wires my old system required has also been a wonderful benefit. Although I always want more, I don't know that I would really benefit from a more expensive amp than this Marantz PM7000N and I highly recommend it.

I am in love with this amplifier. I got this to replace my Marantz PM5005, purchased back in 2016. The Marantz sounded great for what it costed, but I wanted something more since I recently upgraded to some 4 ohms bookshelf speakers that are pretty power hungry. The main improvements were in clarity and overall power. There is definitely more detail in the treble without being harsh. My favorite part? It cleaned up the bass a ton, leaving both the bass and midrange sounding much less bloated. Compared to the PM5005, the PM7000N is much more neutral sounding, which I like because my Wharfedale Denton 85's are very warm. Overall, it's a welcome upgrade. I also got it for the bluetooth functionality. As for the DAC, I was previously running a Cambridge Audio DACMagic into the PM5005. Right now, I am testing with the internal DAC on the Marantz. So far, it sounds a bit better than the DACMagic to my ears. Everything seems to be the same, except the Marantz has a much wider soundstage. I am not sure if that is due to the DAC or the amplifier section. I'm going to keep the setup simple and get rid of the DACMagic from the chain. These are my initial thoughts and impressions. I'll update this on a later date if I have something meaningful to add. EDIT 1 on 12/3/19: Still very happy with this amplifier. It did exactly what I wanted it to, the sound is so much more even and full at low volumes, I hardly have to turn the volume up to hear everything. With the PM5005, I believe that amplifier just didn't have enough current/power to properly power my speakers. It also seemed as though Marantz tuned the lower priced unit to sound better with cheaper gear, since it is evident that the bass is boosted quite a bit. This is not a bad thing, it's just too much of a colored amplifier to sound good with higher-end gear. I also really like the volume control on this unit. Very precise and easy to read. With the PM5005, using the remote control to change the volume was almost impossible to master. It was usually too loud or too soft. This is a non-issue with the PM7000N. The information screen on this unit is also very nice and actually quite helpful in navigating through the various menus.
