Worth the money
You can tell these are well built when you pick them up. Fit comfortably with or without a cap and glasses. I highly recommend getting the 3M gel replacement cups. They make a huge difference in comfort and noise reduction. I also got the rechargable battery which fits perfectly. I can't wait to try them at the range.

Outstanding Hearing Protection, Features, Quality - Recommend Optional Li-Ion Battery & Gel Cups
This review is for Peltor Sport Tactical 500 Smart Electronic Hearing Protector with Bluetooth Wireless Technology, NRR 26 dB. What initially brought me to order this set was the outstanding reviews (both customer and professional), high NRR rating, digital voice listening (for person-to-person communication), and wanting Bluetooth capability for phone/multimedia interactions. I'm going to break this review up into sections. Pros: This set has a high 26 dB NRR rating. This is one of the higher NRR ratings I have seen for headphones. Since they are headphones, you can wear them with earplugs to further increase your ear protection. I have been able to wear these for an hour at a time without any issue. I have not tried them longer than that. These are quite adjustable for a large range of head sizes. The headphones do collapse for better storage, and they come with a nice storage bag. These also feel sturdy and appear to be very well constructed. These fit fine with thin safety glasses. I have not done much with the Bluetooth functionality or the digital voice communication. These have auto power shut off and lower battery warning. Cons: These headphones are a bit on the bulky side. They are definitely not the bulkiest out there, and they aren't obnoxiously bulky. However, there are applications where they could be in the way that you may need thin headphones or earplugs for instead. The headphones are medium in weight. They are definitely not heavy, but if you need to wear these for hours continuously, you might start to notice the weight. The padded cups don't feel very comfortable at first, and they apply a fair amount of pressure. It takes me a bit of positioning to get them into a comfortable position so that they aren't applying pressure to my temples, so that I don't get a headache. Other Thoughts: Overall, these are outstanding headphones for hearing protection. They are feature rich, very adjustable, high NRR rating, and well made. I don't really have much to say about the price, because I find the price to be equal to the quality and feature set. Therefore, I find the value to be good for the price. I ordered the ALPHA1100 rechargeable Li-ion battery pack for these headphones, and I definitely recommend this battery over 2 AA batteries. I do regret not ordering the gel replacement earcups. I have gel replacement earcups for a different set of hearing protection headphones, and they make a big difference. The gel replacement earcups are far more comfortable, provide a better seal, especially with safety glasses on, and they have the potential to offer a slight increase in NRR. This potential NRR increase is possible by achieving a better seal (particularly with glasses on), the material used, and the double hump design (allows two chances to create a complete seal). Update - 10/21/2023 I finally upgraded the stock ear pads on the 3M Peltor Sport Tactical 500 to PROHEAR gel ear pads. It was immediately a significant improvement. The noise reduction was noticeably improved. The gel pads are more comfortable, and they seal much better, especially with glasses on. Each gel pad is about 1mm thicker than the stock pads. I looked at both the gel pads with and without the replacement plastic base. I went with the version without the plastic base, only because they were a bit softer. I'm going to assume it just happened to be a sample variance, and that normally they are both the same. To install I peeled off the original pad, no tools required. I removed the original adhesive residue from the plastic base. Then I did a dry lineup of the new ear pad, removed the adhesive cover, and installed the new pads. I can also say that the digital capabilities for listening with the built-in microphone and speakers is excellent. I am able to hear everything just fine while having hearing protection. It is also very good about muting loud noises but keeping speech audible. I'm also able to hear the digital output (speech/sounds) just fine with earplugs in. This is great, because I can get a very high level of hearing protection, while having very good situational awareness. I would never consider anything other than digital headphones for hearing protection.

Comfortable fit, Great sound suppression for Family
Comfortable fit, and great sound suppression for me as well as my little guy. I used another pair and provided him with the 500 to protect his young ears while we were out on the range. He really liked them over my others so it looks as if I will have to be investing into a second pair. I love the option to use the rechargeable battery pack or 2 AA. The bluetooth feature is easy to use and sink up with my Iphone effortlessly for some tunes during my solo sessions.

Comfortable fit. Not suitable for use at a concert.
I bought these to replace an older model that still worked (after 5 years) but was showing a bit too much wear on the headband. Significant improvement in fit and comfort. All controls are easy to use, even when wearing gloves. Bluetooth lets me listen to music while reducing outside noise. The sensitivity adjustment lets me carry on conversations while automatically suppressing really loud noise. Not suited to use with live music because the suppressor turns on whenever the combined noise pressure gets too high. Makes the music choppy.

Best ear protection ive used to date
Before trying out the Peltor Sport Tactical 500, I had been using Walker Razor's Slims for shooting. However, I would often end up with a buzzing sound in my ears after shooting sessions with the Walkers. I researched and compared various models currently available in the market, and concluded that the Peltors were some of the best options that were reasonably priced and didn't fall into the expensive category. Upon testing both ear pro, the main difference I noticed is that the Peltor's notice cancelation is very sensitive, I could feel the noise canceling kicking in consistently when I hit the table, flicked my paper targets with my fingers, etc. It was a bit annoying at first, but I got used to it (especially since I was jamming to my music all the time). Comfort-wise, razor walkers have a more comfortable headband than these, yet the Peltor earcups feel better for my head than razors. The speaker quality is nothing to write home about when listening to music or answering calls. The sound feels rather flat and is missing some base. However, I must be fair and understand that it's not its main use, so I don't try to take away from them much in this aspect. My main reason for giving it a 4/5 is for the combination of an uncomfortable top band and the quality of the speakers, which could really have been better for the price. PROS: - Great noise cancelling - Bluetooth functionality - Big and easy controls - Great build quality - Mostly comfortable pads - Great ambient feedback - Sensitive microphones CONS: - Uncomfortable headband - Speaker quality is not the best - Price (I think it is a good price when on sale at less than $150, but not worth the MSRP $200)

Bluetooth sound quality is ok, ear protection is great
Great ear protection at a reasonable price. I decided to buy these over the Walker Alpha Quads which are the closest/most similarly protective competitor in electronic muffs. I added the official 3M Gel Pads (Part #GEL-HYG, shows up on Amazon as "3M Gel Hearing Protector Replacement Ear Cushion Hygiene Kit, 1 pair, works with WorkTunes (90543), Peltor Sport (97040, 97041, 97042, TAC300, TAC500, 90565 and 90566)") and they are very comfortable, but the stock foam pads are good too. It does its job in muffling sound and I find it comfortable to wear after a few hours. The electronics work well with amplifying people's voices. The Bluetooth connects stably to my phone in my pocket and the sound quality is definitely lacking compared to real headphones, but is perfectly fine for listening to a bit of music. The controls are large and tactile and very easy to operate, which is a big plus. They fold up for storage which is great. The included little baggie is thin and not very protective but at least keeps it from getting scratched up in my bag. Battery life is good for my purposes, and I haven't had to charge it in about a month, but I only use them for a few hours a week. instead of using AAA batteries, I got the 3M official rechargeable battery (Part #ALPHA1100, shows up on Amazon as "3M ALPHA1100 Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery Pack for 3M WorkTunes Wireless, Peltor Sport Tactical") which charges with a micro-USB cable. The only thing I would say is negative about this ear protection headset is that I think it should have come with the rechargeable battery, instead of that being an extra $25 charge.

Great upgrade for the range
I am so happy I purchased these ear muffs. I can finally hear my instructor and peers. I have used these at the indoor range along with foam ear plugs and it's a definite improvement from foam plus 'passive' ear muffs. At the outdoor range, I only use these electronic ear muffs and it is amazing. I could hear my instructor as if I had no hearing protection, but was still protected from firing. It was a great experience and made me so happy with this purchase. I first tried a cheaper brand, and there was so much static, I couldn't stand it.

worth every penny
Simple to use, great sound and audio quality. I like them so much that I bought a pair for a friend. It definitely makes them better when you can see how happy it makes someone that receives them as a gift.

Great product but not ideal for what I was looking to use them for.
Actually I probably should not rate it low on noise suppression... when unit is turned off or the volume is all the down, thay are good. I was mistakenly hoping that these would help me in my diy woodshop but it appears that they are designed to turn off the microphones for short bursts of noise (gunshot) and not prolonged noises for shop tools. Just means I have to manually adjust volume on them before and after I use a loud tool.
