I'd have to say just about every seed has sprouted and produced robust young plants. Very pleased.

They germinated 100 percent in 6 days. Great seeds.UPDATE: Nice big leaves.

Planted twice this year. Early June and Early July. None of them sprouted.

I purchased these seeds in 2025. I harvested a lot of leaves during the summer. They produced seeds again, and I planted them again this year.

Hard to germinate

I’m relatively new to hydroponics and I had read that perilla takes a while to germinate. So when I saw tiny roots on day 2, I thought it was some kind of optical illusion. I was wrong! Today is day 3, and this is what they look like.If it’s helpful, this is what I did.1. Soaked the seeds: I sprinkled a bunch of seeds in a small bowl and poured about half an inch of water into it. I let them soak for a full day before planting. (I also soaked the sponges separately.)2. Placed seeds on top of the sponges: Perilla seeds need light to wake up, so I didn’t put them in the hole. I still used the sticker.3. Covered them with domes.I was concerned about germination rates because most of the seeds remained floating rather than sinking during the soak, so I planted more than 5 seeds per pod and used all the spaces. I won’t do this next time. As it is, it looks like I’m going to have to prune a lot of poor seedlings to bring it down to 1 plant per pod. I’m also going to need to move a couple of the pods to my other Aerogarden, to make space for the roots.All in all, I’m very happy with these seeds so far!

I had some concerns when I read the reviews. But those seeds germinated after a week. Very nice seeds. I can’t wait to harvest my Korean shiso leaves
