Nutramax Dasuquin MSM Joint Supplement, Sm/Med Dogs, Chew Tablets, 84ct

It is extremely rare that I place a "life changing" tag on anything. I don't live my life in superlatives and consider myself to be very critical when analyzing any products. I do not hand out 5-star reviews on every product I buy.We have two beagles, now 11 and 13. The younger one started to slow down significantly about 2 years ago. He also became much hairier and was constantly seeking heat. The vet ran some tests and determined he had an underactive thyroid. We put him on thyroid medication and got his levels back to where they should be. Unfortunately, his energy and flexibility only improved slightly. He was still noticeably lethargic, loved laying in the Texas sun (even with the extra hair), and didn't have much motivation for his usual long walks.The vet recommended glucosamine with MSM as some quick physical tests showed stiffening of his joints and tenderness in his back. The vet cautioned that since glucosamine is a supplement, it isn't regulated (read: no clinical trials required). Therefore, some glucosamines are as effective as a placebo. They recommended seeking guidance from a pharmacist or talking to other owners. I saw this as an opportunity to look into the rich reviews from Amazon.com.I started off with a liquid glucosamine product. It had great reviews. Not only was it messy, but the dogs hated it. Yes, I proactively started giving it to our older dog, too. After the first bottle, I didn't see much of a difference. I tried a popular glucosamine pill after that and again, no difference.We also tried a milk-based anti-inflammatory supplement as we had read that this may help. It did, but it was short-lived.We started to wrap our heads around the fact that this might be the beginning of the end. Our dog continued to be lethargic, stiff, and almost depressed. He used to love taking 2+ mile walks and playing in the yard. He did none of this now. It was really depressing to watch.Again, back to Amazon, I did a lot of research and found Dasuquin with MSM. The reviews were glowing and the price was high. Naturally, I was skeptical that this new generation of joint care would be any different. I committed and started him on the "loading cycle."After about 7 days, our old dog started to come back. His desire for walks started to return, he would hang out in the yard, and his confidence improved. At about 2-3 weeks (as the loading cycle completed and we moved to the maintenance cycle), his condition improved even more. At one month, he was about peaked. He now is the first one in-line for walks, wants to stay out the longest, will play in the yard all day, and is confident in doing so. It's like having a 2 year old dog again.Now, after 14 months, we have him and his older brother on a strict maintenance of Dasuquin. Everything is the same as it was at a month in. He is 11 and is doing great. My sense is that as he started to feel better, he became more active. When he was more active, he built up his muscle tone. With increased muscle tone, he was able to be active and flexible and feel good about it. All in all, he is confident, happy, and active.I really couldn't be happier with this product.More recently I sold my brother-in-law on it for his 5 year old English Bulldog. His dog developed tender and sore back legs (common) and began to do less exercise due to discomfort. His experience was almost identical. Results at 1 week, improving up to 4 weeks, peaking and continuing for the past 6 months. He is very happy.Most recently, I turned my mom onto it for her 11 year old German Shepherd with similar joint weakness and discomfort. After just 5 days, she is reporting that her dog has shown a big increase in energy and flexibility. She has been very happy so far and I expect that to continue.All in all, I am extremely pleased with this product. It is one of the very few products I will sell people on. I believe in it wholeheartedly. It truly changed the life of our dog and we are very grateful to have found it.

Long detailed review because I know how important our pups are to us! Strongly recommend this vitamin!!Background: my dog is 5 was diagnosed with hip dysplasia in February and takes prescribed anti-inflammatories daily. He’s an ACD and enjoyed being active until issues started.Issues: mild stiffness in both hips & his hip will pop occasionally if he twists/turns too quickly. Sleeping a lot and reluctant to go outside and completely uninterested in playing fetch. He normally asks to go outside but stopped completely when issues started, even when taking the anti-inflammatories. Not sure if it was just pain or maybe a little depression but instead of laying/napping on couch with me he would hide and nap in his quiet den spot in bedroom alone.Results only weeks after starting this vitamin: he’s sleeping less and wants to go outside and walk and play fetch again. After one week he started ringing his bells on doorknob to ask to go outside and go for walk. Today, now several weeks on vitamin, he got mad I wasn’t fast enough after the bell ring so he tracked me down and barked at me and pushed me to the door. Last time he was that excited for a walk was almost a year ago. I’ve noticed his movement is much more fluid. I’m still following veterinary directions with frequency/duration of exercise so I can only speak for mild daily activity of 20 minutes walking everyday. I’m also careful with fetch games I make sure he doesn’t have to turn/twist to catch.Side effects: he had gas at first and hates the taste. So I broke it up and mixed it with a little bit of fatty fragrant food like an egg or unsalted salmon. Mayo works too in a pinch I’ll mix his kibble with a little bit and then mix in pill pieces. He doesn’t like peanut butter but I imagine that would be great way for others. This fixed reluctancy to eat & the horrific smelling farts. I made sure I followed directions starting out with smaller dose. He had some runny stools at first but week two they were back to normal.Hope this review helps someone. Wish I would have bought this from the start. It warms my heart to see him happier & enjoying activities again! His general comfort has improved which improved his mood. Pics of him enjoying walks again and clunking out happily on couch after walk & playing fetch. Complete improvement and in less than a month. SO GRATEFUL for this product!

I’m just beside myself with how well this product has helped my 15 year old dog so now I’m giving it to my 11 year old as well.Snarker, the 15 year old is running around like a puppy and his eyes just have a happy look. He is truly a one in a million dog so we want to keep him with us and pain free as long as possible. Currently I have five furries and have always had more than two dogs. I don’t have to tell anyone what an expense they can be. I was Leary of spending so much for this product and then have it not work. It took about a week or so but he is a changed little man.I highly recommend this and now the price seems so little to pay for the amount of pain relief he has.

I was skeptical because you see all kinds of ads for products like this but my vet actually recommended this one so I decided to try them. I cannot believe the difference I see in my dogs, I honestly feel so guilty I didn't start them sooner. They have been using them for 3 months now and I have an 8lb Yorkie mix who is 14 years old, a 60lb hound mix and a 45lb golden retriever mix both 7 years old. I noticed the biggest difference in our hound mix, a few months ago he started limping- his back right leg looked like it was hurting him. We went to the vet and they thought it might just be his joints- we had them do all kinds of testing because it seemed like it had to be more than that- but they came back fine. They recommended starting him on these and I am SO happy we did. He stopped limping and getting up and down of the couch is easier for him.

Dasuquin with MSM for Dogs Under 60 lbs. was recommended to me per our dog's orthopedic surgeon. Since we adopted her she has had to have both of her knees replaced. She is a senior dog and smaller in size. We were fortunate that a member of our rescue group donated a slightly used bottle of Dasuquin to us that she was no longer able to use. That was our first initial experience with the product. Our dog's surgeon advised me as to how much to give and for how long to administer the initial loading dose as per our dog's weight and now we are on a daily maintenance dose. Our dog has been on the Dasuquin now for three full months. We walk daily up to three miles and I do believe it has made her more comfortable. She also has a history of disc problems in her back and we have not seen any problems in that respect since she has been on the Dasuquin product. I started our other dog on this product at the same time as well as she has a luxating patella. I was told this product will help stabilize the knee joint for this problem. If our dogs are more active on a certain day, for example the weekend, I give the loading dose for that day to offer more support and comfort to the joints. What I like about the Dasuquin is my surgical dog has not had a need for Rimadyl since starting this supplement. Our dog's orthopedic surgeon said though if Rimadyl was needed, there would not be a problem with both products being compatible. Both of our dogs eagerly eat the Dasuquin tablet...they think they are getting a daily treat.I would rate this product with four stars. This was my initial purchase with Amazon. The product was fresh and brand new and in excellent condition when I received it. I received my order within the time frame stated when I made the purchase. The expiration date is over three years out. Following the process to check out when I purchased this item on Amazon was very self explanatory and convenient. The "free" shipping and handling was definitely a plus! My reason for rating this item with four stars and not five, is that it is a very expensive product, but worth trying if you are an animal lover like myself. By purchasing this product on Amazon I saved $30 compared to what my local general veterinarian would have charged me. Our dog's orthopedic surgeon does not carry this product in his office, so he advised me to purchase on-line. Unless I am advised differently, I'm sure my surgical dog and most likely my other dog with the luxating patella, will remain on this product for the rest of their lives as I was told when you operate on a joint you will have to deal with arthritis in the future.

I did some research on this joints pills for my dog and the reviews said it was good stuff so I tried it ! Plus my veterinarian told me it was on the #1 rated it is Awesome! Thank you!

This supplement changed my dog’s life! He has two luxating patellas so he often walked with a little skip every few steps. After taking this for about a month or two now, he doesn’t skip AT ALL. He didn’t appear in pain before but I can tell he’s much happier during walks now. The price is worth it, especially because it has so many pills.

I've been giving these to my 11 year old Boston for about 3 months. She loves the taste and sees them as a treat, with no side effects. I haven't seen any major changes—she still has leg shakes, but still is happily running, jumping, and playing after dinner. Our vet was glad she's taking them and told us to continue to at least keep her current baseline.

It is so good to be able to buy this excellent canine arthritis medication here in Canada at last. We have used it for our older dog for several years when spending winters in Arizona. THESE ARE NOT CHEWS! They are extremely hard pills and are not suitable for a smaller dog - the package says "chews"!I can't get my dog to eat them even cut up (loose a lot by cutting them up) - he spits them out even when coated with peanut butter.

Works well for older dogs mobility without having to use drugs
