Best Bluetooth speaker I've owned.
This thing has been out through the wringer! I've thrown it in pools, used it creekside and at the beach in the sand. It's never let me down. It's not super heavy so it's pretty portable. Super easy to connect. The sound quality is really good and has a decent amount of bass with the rear sub. I've had many Altex Lancsing speakers in the passed like the life jackets etc, but this one is my favorite. I take it on all the trips. The battery life is insane too. It's never died on me. It also has a waterproof compartment in the back. I usually keep the garter in there so I don't lose it but you can put your phone and wallet for beach trips to keep it dry and out of the sand and sun. When (if it ever does) breaks I'll be sticking with Altec!

Sound went out after 2.5 years of minimal use.
This seemed to be a good speaker for the first year and a half, then the sound started getting bad and muffled. Which I recently red was probably due to dust. So I'll give them that. The speaker has been used very minimally and has been kept inside and has never been exposed to water. I used it two days ago, and now there is no sound. No system sound, nothing. I did all of the troubleshooting, and it had come down to the computer board inside of the speaker, that I cannot topic So, i paid $130 for a speaker that's trash now. I would not recommend 😐

Love the charging station
Over the last year, I've purchased 6 or 7 portable speakers from Altec Lansing, for myself and as presents. They've all performed wonderfully and I haven't encountered any issues. I've gotten them in the full range of sizes from the small hand held speakers to this larger sized one. They're well designed and manufactured with quality in mind. This speaker is made with the same high quality. The functionality is what makes it totally worth $130. It easily pairs to my phone and I love that I don't have to be right on top of it for it to change songs or volume. It's got 3 USB ports and 1 aux port that are covered by a waterproof lid, as well as a handy waterproof compartment on the back to protect your phone. The sound is clear with nice bass. It's loud enough that I can use it in my backyard while gardening and still be able to hear it, even when I go around the side of the house. One of the best features this speaker has is that you can use it as a charging station. The ability to do that is huge since playing music on my phone seems to suck the battery quickly. The speaker has really good battery life, but you only get 20 hours out of it, if you're running it at 50% volume and no one is using it as a charging station. If I'm running it at full volume and have 1 phone charging it'll last 10-12 hours, which is still great. It's a very lightweight unit that you can take everywhere and the construction is solid. I'm extremely happy with the performance and I'd definitely purchase this again.

This brand is starting to grow on me
I'd honestly never really was aware of the brand Alltec before a few months ago but I've been more and more impressed with their products the more I give them a chance. I didn't even realize that an older surround sound system in my house, maybe decades old, is an Alltec, too, and is still holding up pretty well for its age. These newer models still hold the same competency but are definitely upgraded in all the right ways. This model is less flashy than other Bluetooth speakers as it is made for more outdoor use, like barbecuing and working on your yard, and travel, like road trips and camping. It's built rock solid, no fear of this falling apart or getting damaged from occasional bumps and drops. The battery life is very impressive and allows for us to play music for hours and hours on end while working inside or outside. The waterproof function lets us feel a lot safer keeping this nearby when working with hoses or by a pool, though you don't want to pour water or any sort of liquids directly on it. Loud speaker, charging ports, clear sound and built to last. Can't get much better than that and I would expect no less from Altec.

Doesn’t keep the charge long
The speaker has decent sound. I think it is a little bit too pricey though doesn’t knock my socks off and it doesn’t really charge other devices as stated if you leave it plugged in it will distort music playing out of it after the battery is fully charged. it’s OK but I would get a JBL or Bose and or Sony

These are our favorite speakers for 5K races!
We have a 5K racing company. We've gone through three different types of speakers over the last 4 years, before settling on these. Here's why they are our first choice. 1. We are often at locations where there is no power. These run on batteries for HOURS which is perfect. 2. Weather is always unpredictable. These speakers are WATERPROOF so we don't have to worry about covering them with covers that mute the sound in the event of a sudden downpour. 3. These link together wirelessly. When we have bigger crowds, we simply grab a couple more and spread them around. We have linked up to 5 at a time. (Be warned, sometimes when you press the buttons they don't respond immediately. You might have to press them a couple times. However, so far they've always worked eventually.) 4. They're about the lightest battery powered speakers we've had the pleasure of working with. We thought they might be difficult to deal with since previous speakers we used had wheels. They're so light, it's simply not an issue. THINGS you should know. A. Yes they can get to a great volume. For people gathering at the start, registration and finish of a race they're perfect. However, they really aren't loud enough for a float in a parade. You need more volume, especially for bigger crowds. (We use large powered speakers for our float in the Key West Fantasy Fest parade.) B. You need to buy speaker stands for each one. Since they don't have a way to mount them on a stand, we got speaker stands and a laptop platform that sits on top of the stand. Then these speakers go over that, with a bungee holding them in place. Elevating them is important to spread the sound around at ear level, they just don't sound as good on the ground. The stands typically cost $50, the platform on top of the stands cost another $30 or so and the bungee to hold them in place. So that does significantly increase the cost for each one....but for all their advantages we find it's worth it. C. You will need a cover for the MASTER unit. Unless you have a waterproof device connected to it with bluetooth, you need to have a waterproof port open for the wired connection. That means you need a cover for that unit to prevent any rain getting in. It's a minor issue, but important to know if you use them where they might get wet.

Downgrade from the original
I bought this to pair with my older model Sonic Boom (with silver accents). This all black model is a significant downgrade from that previous model. It was packaged well and had a nice appearance, but that's about it. The battery would not charge and the speaker would only turn on via the wall charger. Even when it turns on, the "Altec Lansing" audio during startup has an obnoxious background buzz; Not like a gentle hiss from the amplifier, but an actual buzz that is nearly as loud as the audio. I paired a bluetooth device and tried a song... Nope, the buzz is still there making it a useless speaker. My previous model is 10+ years old and still going strong. Had to send this new one back after one day.

The Sonic Boom Is Sonic Junk
I have a small speaker from them & it works awesome. I ordered the Sonic Boom speaker & it was garbage. I plugged it in to charge it up & it never charged. It only turned on when the power cord was plugged in. Then when it did turn on. When it said Welcome To Alec Lansing is wasn't clear. It was static. Then I heard a horrible buzzing sound coming from the speaker when I tried to play music through it. So I asked for a replacement. They sent the replacement & it was like they took the same speaker that I just sent back and put it in a beat up box & shipped it right back to me. Because it did the same thing. Wouldn't charge, wouldn't work without the power cord. Horrible buzzing sound when I tried to play music from it. When it said Welcome To Altec Lansing. It wasn't clear, it was muffled and static. I'm very disappointed. The instructions said 2 to 3 hours and it would be fully charged. I left it plugged in overnight and it never charged. Both of them just flashed a dim red light every few seconds. That light is supposed to be a bright solid red until fully charged. Then the light is supposed to go out. I'm absolutely disgusted. Don't waste your time and money on this. Find an alternative.

Buena bocina para playa
Es una buena bocina para la playa ya que resiste la arena y agua pero no es muy funcional.
