Excellent resource for restoring current or antique vehicles
I bought this book on Amazon and purchased some (vintage) tools elsewhere for my first attempt at restoring an older truck. It is a Fourth Edition reprint of the first publication from 1931 and is an excellent reference source for the auto restoration novice or auto fan.On slick pages, not paper, the photos and diagrams used throughout the manual will not absorb dirt and grease. Included within the manual are photos and descriptions on how to analyze the damage and work out the metal. Also included are photos and descriptions of the various tools used to "bump" the metal dents, creases, ridges, and V channels that result from accidents. The manual is an easy read and the approach is very logical and understandable. With a few purchases from Amazon, Ebay, or the local auto store you are on your way to restoring the metal on your own vehicle, whether new or antique.

Concise, Simple instructions on repairing damage.
I've been working on learning to shape metal over the past few years. This book isn't really about shaping metal, it is about repairing dent damage to metal which has already been shaped. It shows you tried and true methods for removing metal damage. I've been around groups of people who know this stuff, but nobody put it as simply and concisely as this book. It gives you simple techniques with simple tools.Yes, there is some aspect of 'advertising' to this booklet...it is written by a tool manufacturer...but there is plenty of good information in this book, which would be useful no matter which brand of tool you own or buy.

Very informative
Excellent book on automotive metal work. It's a good place to start for someone just getting into the trade.

Handy Basics
The Key to Metal Bumping is fairly basic but very handy information. A person would be a very long time figuring this information out on their own. A bargain book that every metalshaper and body man should have in their toolbox. It is full of tidbits that are being lost due to changes in the way automobiles are built. Explains in easy to understand terms how to do a repair without resorting to chucking on gobs of body filler.
