Fire Vida Fire Guard, Nickel

Happy with this purchase, one in my local store was over £40. Its literally a bit rough around the edges but the overall effect is modern and fits in nicely with our fire place. It was boxed properly and arrived much quicker than stated when i placed the order.

The items was delivered 2 day before the estimated date. Though the item appears to be well constructed and of good quality, the things that lets it down and is the reason I give it 3 stars is the poor quality control and condition it arrived in. Unfortunately half of the top of the guard had rough edges on and was dangerous. It had not been finished off well and I sliced my finger on it. There was also other areas on the frame that were poorly finished. The sharp edges actually ripped paper(see photo) when I run a piece over the area. It's a pity the control quality was terrible as this guard appeared to be of good quality.

Bought this to protect fireplace from my baby. It's a good lightweight option but those who don't want to put up ugly and bulky baby gates. Only downside is that there's nothing to secure it in place so I've used clear silicone which will be removed once baby is older.

Rather wide than most but excellent at curving round an open fire without blocking the view. Despite burning spitting logs, no sparks have managed to get out of it. Construction of frame is good but like most spark guards, wire relatively flimsy. Stands up by itself when removed but doesn't fold. Far superior to the traditional narrow guards but you have to have the space for it. Spark mesh goes all the way to top. Highly recommended. Not much use as a child guard as it will fall over easily due to narrow depth. You could add fittings to the corners to fix it in place but. There is nothing on the frame already to attach to. Note that as this is vertical, but curved, tall fires may not be covered.

Lovely looking guard. The only snag (and the reason it got four instead of five stars) is the handle is placed on the inside centre top, which happens to be the place where the guard gets the hottest. That being said, you can still move it if you're used to touching hot things, if not your sleeve works well. Still very happy with the purchase!
