During Queen Victoria's reign, tea became a symbol of Britain's greatest period of expansion and stability. Every home owned a teapot, even if it was a basic "Brown Betty". Tea was no longer a refined upper class beverage, but the basis of a whole meal. While Charleston dancers and many Victorian glamours have disappeared from the scene, the humble "Brown Betty" has remained a firm favorite. Its origins go back to the to the end of the 17th century and to the birth of the ceramic teapot. In 1700 a small unglazed teapot made of red clay from the Bradwell Woods area of Stoke on Trent was a luxury item costing 12 shillings. Our Brown Betty teapots are still made from the Terracotta as used by the Elers Brothers in 1695. their method of making was 'jollying' but in later years this became slip casting giving a smooth finish and even thickness. Succeeding generations of Englishmen have proved that the Brown Betty makes the best pot of tea in the world. The shape of the pot causes the tea leaves to be gently swirled around as the boiling water is added thus producing an exquisite infusion. The red terracotta clay with its Rockingham glaze coddles the brew and gives the perfect cup of tea. Hand Made Classic Betty 2 Cup Teapot in Cobalt Blue ("Cobalt Betty")

Recieved Cauldron, not Adderley
I bought this teapot specifically because it said it was from Adderly ceramics, it cost more than the one for cauldron which is fine, or rather Upd be if I had actually recieved an Adderly teapot. The teapot I recieved was from cauldron and is far inferior to the ones made by Adderly, also it was missing the history card which the description clearly states would be included, though this isn't much of an issue. I will revise my review accordingly if my issue is sorted out. Also this teapot has a very poorly fitting lid with a massive vent hole, and imperfect glaze. It is also very thin in and feels just poorly crafted. I've been collecting teapots for years now and this has to be one of the most cheaply made ones in my collection, even worse than a three dollar one I imported from China.

You can't go wrong with a genuine Brown Betty!
I own several Brown Betty teapots in various sizes. They are perfectly balanced, hold the heat and brew a wonderful pot of tea.If you see these in stock, get them because there seem to be long periods when they are not available and then they'll suddenly show up in stock again. The cobalt is a lovely shade of blue. The pots do not have the British flag on them - they are solid blue.A wonderful item for any tea lover!

The teapot is easy to extract the loose tea leaves
I really wanted a 2-cup teapot that was made in England. I was concerned about the packaging but it came in a 3 layer heavy duty bubble wrap. The teapot is easy to extract the loose tea leaves. I have ordered a second one. Nice pot for the price.

A perfect little teapot
I love this little teapot. It's a very generous 2 cups—more like 2½—but you'll get no complaint from me. The tea stays perfectly hot, true to the Original Brown Betty promise. If you know someone who loves tea, this would be the perfect gift.

Ok for the price
It's a nice pot for the money. Didn't have the card and the glaze was not the best (pitted here and there), If you're looking for a heavy tea pot, it's not for you.
