Every young person above third grade should be able to read A Girl, Her Horse and a Dog! It would open their eyes to a lifestyle that is, for the most part, gone in America. And every adult interested in the history of what life was like in the mid-1900s is in for a real treat walking down memory lane! Terry Wolfe has an excellent way of writing that draws the reader in and has them feeling very involved with Jo, Sundance, and Misha. A fantastic read!

This is a delightful gem of a book in the tradition of wholesome and heartwarming classic children's literature. It's depiction of a simple, rural childhood, where both people and animals play central roles, is both moving and life-affirming.

A great read for young girls! What a wonderful trip back to the days of just a delightfully written book! How nice to enjoy a bunch of happy events, an some exciting moments and not have to suffer through great tragedies. Just a fun, well written light hearted informative read! Learned a few things myself!
