Van Holten's Pickles - Jumbo Hot Pickle-In-A-Pouch - 12 Pack

I recently purchased a full case of Van Holten’s pickles, and they remain my absolute favorite grab-and-go snack. The portability of the individual pouches makes them incredibly convenient for busy days The flavor is a perfect balance of intense vinegar and a nice, lingering spicy kick. While they have a strong vinegar aroma the taste is where they really shine. I’ve found that the best way to enjoy these is chilled. Refrigerating them before opening makes the pickle much crisper and gives it a satisfying snap that you just don't get at room temperature. The only downside to my recent experience was the condition of the case upon arrival. Unfortunately, one of the pouches had opened during transit, which was a bit of a disappointment. Despite this, the quality of the remaining pickles was excellent.

My husband loves spicy food and buys extracts etc., online to make sauces spicy enough for his taste. If you're that into spicy, the initial burn isn't that much, but it most definitely builds. My husband's favorite thing about this particular brand of spicy pickle is that it is still flavorful, not just hot. SPICY GAUGE: I have a low spicy tolerance (jalapenos are okay, but only a few) and one bite of this was too much for me. My husband buys ghost chili and habanero concentrate to make his own hot sauce and thinks they are GREAT, with just the right amount of burn. We shared one with a friend who likes spicy food but has a tolerance somewhere between myself and my husband, leaning toward my husband's regular spicy food use. He thought they were VERY spicy but loved them. He also made the same comment on how they are still flavorful considering how spicy they are. SIZE: I would consider these a larger snack size. They aren't the jumbo pickles you get from convenience stores, but they are definitely more than a couple bites. Approximate dimension: ~4 inches long x 1.25-1.5 inches in diameter. OTHER USES: Since truly spicy pickles are hard to find, we don't just use these as portable snacks, but also cut them up and put them on sandwiches, or dice them and put them in other dishes like tuna salad. OVERALL I would recommend these. This is my second order and I will likely continue to purchase as long as they are offered. These are NOT for the occasional "slightly spicy" person.

Usually buy the hot mama at my local grocery store. However, they have been out of stock for more than a month. Very happy, nice and crunchy not a soggy one in the bunch. Equal heat level to hot mamas.

My wife love Van Holtens, since I was spending a fortune buying one pickle at a time I figured I'd kill her with kindness and give her the hot pickle pack. The price was good, she likes the flavor and best of all I didn't have to make my daily pickle run to the gas station. No leaks in the bag, gas station quality for a reasonable price.

Incredibly delicious! These have a good spice to them, not to hot but a good level. They are not very crunchy which is unfortunate but not a deal breaker. The package was sealed fine, no leaks or damage.

I had some reservations based on other reviews particularly one person saying it was like "battery acid" flavor etc...BS!!! These jumbo hot pickles are excellent in terms of flavor and they pack a respectable bite in terms of heat. I honestly don't know that they could be much better then what they are. I actually sliced some up and had them on a warm chicken cutlet grinder with provolone, mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion and it was great! The plastic packaging is thick and sturdy with lots of the hot brine juice per pack. All 12 I ordered were packed perfectly and no issues whatsoever. I highly recommend these "Van Holten's - Pickle-In-A-Pouch Jumbo Hot Pickles - 12 Pack" for price and quality. I am definitely going to be a return customer for these hot pickles and I am very likely try other Van Holten's products.

These are so gross. They taste old and have a weird film that sticks to the roof of your mouth and tongue. They smell musty and just off. I can't even return them. What a waste of good money!!!
