Bought to use when doing cam belts on machines I work on, the engines use stretch belts, due to no adjustment on the alternator or other tensioner. They work well when the pulley is fitted with the thin lip edge to the outside, our engines have the pulley either way, depending on which machine it is fitted in.

Good quality for the price and something Definitely worth having in the toolbox.

Saw the other reviews saying fiddly or took lots of effort so was a bit concerned. I bought the metal one (can’t imagine the plastic one is any good). Inserted the install one onto the pulley, looped the belt onto the other pulley and onto the install tool on the first pulley. Pulled it tight so the belt is fully on one pulley but only half on the other one with the tool. Put the car in 3rd gear and handbrake off. Rolled the car slowly forward about 1m and the tool rolled round the pulley and pulled the belt on. Took about 10s. I was careful to put a block of wood in front of the front wheel so it didn’t keep rolling (over me!).

It works, not the easiest tool to use, a bit fiddly. Works well on BMW and Ford. Cheap which is nice

Theses little tools saved me from the complete nightmare of a job of replacing the two belts on a Smart Fortwo that has close to zero access in the engine bay, I put both the belts on with these from under the car and didn't need to undo any bolts! The whole job took around 15 minutes, I highly recommend these!
