This is a great new printing of Arban's
This new edition of Arban's has been completely re-engraved so the printing is all clear, easy to read, and pieces that had been crammed onto a single page in the original (which is still sold by Carl Fischer!) printing are now spread out over 2 pages! The examples on the CD are a great teaching tool, as are the accompaniments which are recorded, and the inclusion of the original remarks is a great historical artifact. The only downside, as with the "original" version that Carl Fischer still sells (the one with the red cover), is that it has a "perfect" binding (that's where they use glue to hold the pages in and the binding is flat). I have no idea why that's called a "perfect" binding because it is definitely NOT perfect for a musician since the book doesn't lie open on the stand very easily. I found a solution to such problems, though - I bring perfect-bound books to my locally owned copy shop (not Kinko's or FedEx or Staples) and have them convert it to a coil binding. For $3 they slice off the "perfect" binding's spine, then use a machine to drill all the holes and then put in a plastic-coated coil, and now the book really is perfect! This is a welcome addition to the trumpet student (of all ability levels) library.

Great Print Edition - Easy To Rebind
Two things of note:1) This is a great edition of Arban's essential work.My past editions had jumbled text in multiple languages and all were impossible to read. This is a brilliantly produced edition that has clarity in text and layout. It's a relatively expensive book, but it's worth every penny - you'll refer to it for as long as you play - no matter how good you are, there is always room for Arban (and Schlossberg).2) The only downside to the book is that the binding is glued. Although I was able to "break in" the binding the way my third grade librarian taught me, it's just not the same as having a spiral bound music book.So I took it to Kinko's / FedEx Office and had them bind it for me.As you can see in the photos I chose a spiral binding, though they would do the plastic ones, too. The plastic comb bindings are not as durable but some choose the comb so they can remove and replace the pages they need as they work through the book. That was also my first thought, but knowing how I am, the pages would no doubt end up out of order, missing and otherwise made unusable. The spiral works for me.Best part -- they did it while I waited and get this, it only cost me FIVE BUCKS, plus tax. Deal of the year.

Accurate Publication - Well Bound
This is to replace my decades-old Arban book that finally fell apart. I tried a new, spiral-bound edition first, but it was loaded with errors. This book seems as accurate as my old Arban book - that is to say it is excellent. I "broke it in" properly, in the old-fashioned way, and then worked on getting it to open flat, but that apparently will take a long time! My intention is to go to Office Depot or someplace, have the binding cut off, and have it spiral bound. But if you are patient I suspect you can get it to work for you without new binding.

Two many books!
For reasons I cannot imagine, I received two of these whilst ordering only one - but there were two "order" numbers!! And two charges!! When going to your site to report this, there were no headings suitable for my kind of complaint, and had I returned the extra book to you I would have still been out of pocket for the delivery costs. I have given this book to my trumpet teacher to give to another student who may need it. So, although the book is good - which I expected as it was recommended to me by my teacher, I'm certainly not happy with being lumbered with an extra book which I did not order. I admit that this is the first time I've had cause to complain about any aspect of my dealings with Amazon, but it certainly left me feeling I'd been taken for a ride.

I'm traditionally a low brass player, but decided to pick up the trumpet as an additional instrument. This book has a wide variety of exercises, etudes, and duets. I immediately went to Fedex and had them convert it to spiral / coil binding, which is a big help!

Imprescindible
La biblia de la trompeta no tiene competencia, es lo mejor que se ha escrito para ese instrumento.

Great book
Arguably the greatest trumpet etude book. Very big. Lots of exercises. Not exactly like the old copies so some teachers or peers may be confused on page numbers. Also, it seems not every note is correct especially when it comes to final notes on exercises.

Quality product as described.
My second copy of Arban my old one worn out. Yes the backing makes it hard to fold back flat without breaking the binding but I put on stand with wire page restraints which move up and hold the pages back. The extra pages for the studies threw me at first but as I am older now it makes it easier to see. All trumpet or cornet payers should gave a copy of Arban's method.

Excellent tutor shame about the misprint
Publisher misprinted early page v. A photo covers part of the text so one cannot read the instructions which are mainly obscured by it. Obviously the publisher does not do a foolproof read check. I would be interested to know if this company still exists so that I might find out what those instructions were.

Huge edition, more than 400 pages
This is a modern re-print of the famous method. It is telephone-book thick and very difficult to use, it will not stand on any music stand. Can be used just for reference, but not for playing.
