I wanted to make vegetarian sushi with a friend but didn’t really know how to do it. We check amazon and found this and it ended up being perfect. It came with an ebook that was so helpful with ingredient and it had recipes! I love the square sushi pieces. It’s so cute. And it’s such an easy sushi device to use. I’ve tried a couple others that have you roll the sushi and they always fall apart. This has been the best I’ve used and I can’t wait to use it more! Favorite combo was avocado, cucumber, red bell pepper, carrots, lettuce, rolled with sushi and nori, with a sprinkle of paprika! Square an yum!

i must confess i wasnt sure at first, as i am new to making sushi rolls, and i was under the impression it was all about the rolling mats. This Maki Maker is brilliant though! my first time making sushi ever, and even i got some really good maki first time! Even when it turned up, i will confess to being a little underwhelmed by this little wooden block. IT IS PERFECT! the right size, the beguilingly simple tool is exactly what is needed. top it off with clear instructions, and a free rolls recipe book, and this is ideal for both the beginner, and the more experienced too.

Higher quality than the plastic ones. I got this as a gift because I love sushi. My dad makes it all the time and well now I have the ability to as well. I as really happy to get the bonus recipes because some of them my dad didn't even know how to make. This product is easy to use, quick to clean up and fun in the kitchen.

Always trying to find an effective one that my cooking students can use to make authentic and well-made sushi. This is it! Simple and well-made, with instructions both in the box, as well as on their website...along with a digital sushi cookbook to get you started. The wood this is made from works well, and it's important to wet it while using to keep the rice from sticking. The instructions are generally clear and this unit can make sushi rice side in, and rice side out as well as other Japanese style sushi. Though a very simple contraption, it just works. No need for tubes or mechanical press systems...this is easy to use and fully functional. The photo attached to this review is the spread I made using the Sushi Maker for the very first time. Practice makes perfect, and this is certainly not the best that it will produce, but for the first time, I am IMPRESSED with the ease and operation. Theres nothing wrong with the quality of this product. Its just a lot smaller than we anticipated. We wanted to make Spam Musubi and we ended up cutting them in half to fit inside the maker.

My son likes maki rolls so I thought this would be something fun we can experiment with in the kitchen. I was attracted to this one because it’s wooden and well constructed. Many maki makers are plastic. It was quite easy to use. Make sure you use the real sushi rice, not regular rice. We started out with cooked shrimp in some spicy mayo and scallions. I wasn’t confident enough to make rolls with raw fish until I had tried it successfully. We got the ingredients: shrimp, spicy mayo, cucumbers, avocado, nori, sushi rice (cooked, cooled and mixed with rice wine vinegar, a little oil, salt and sugar) and followed the instructions. They came out great and my 11 year old was able to make futomaki (nori on the outside) rolls with ease. The rice on the outside is a bit harder but only if you use too much rice. I highly recommend this roll maker!

I bought this as part of a Christmas gift for my brother and sister-in-law - when it arrived I was sorely disappointed. It's in a cheap plastic box and looks like something you'd see on an "As Seen on TV" shelf in Bed Bath & Beyond. It definitely does not look like it's worth the $40 I paid for it and nothing like the pictures provided on here. I will be returning this and looking for a new gift for my family.

The thing I like best about this sushi making kit is the simple design of the Maki Maker itself. It's so compact and easy to use and then store afterwards. The detailed instructions included many illustrations too so that made them so much easier to follow. My first use of the maki maker was very fun even though my maki rolls did not turn out as beautifully as I hoped---however that is not at all the fault of the maki maker--I didn't have rice vinegar to prepare the sushi rice "sauce" and so my sushi rice was less than workable. I can't wait to try the maki maker again with better rice. I think even longtime making-sushi-at-home people would enjoy the use of the maki maker.

Hoy me preparé unos makis con mi nuevo kit y me han salido buenísimos!. Soy principiante cocinando sushi y no puedo comparar este producto con otros, pero me gusta mucho!. El kit tiene unas instrucciones con dibujos muy fáciles de entender. El producto es de buena calidad, hecho a mano y fácil de limpiar. Me gusta como salen los rollos perfectamente cuadrados. Espero que cuanto más lo use, mejor me irán saliendo mis platos de sushi:)

Es ist sauber verarbeitet und hat keine rauen Stellen. Einfache Handhabung: Mit diesem Set gelingen gleichmäßige Maki-Rollen fast wie beim Profi. Die Anwendung ist intuitiv und man spart sich das mühsame Hantieren mit der Bambusmatte, wenn man noch nicht so geübt ist. Leichte Reinigung: Obwohl es Holz ist, lässt es sich nach der Benutzung einfach unter fließendem Wasser reinigen. Ich lasse es danach gut an der Luft trocknen, damit das Holz lange schön bleibt. Geschmack: Da Holz geruchs- und geschmacksneutral ist, bleibt das Aroma des Sushis unverfälscht. Fazit: Ein tolles Set für alle, die gerne gesund und frisch japanisch kochen. Es sieht in der Küche zudem sehr schick aus und ist auch eine super Geschenkidee für Sushi-Fans. Klare Empfehlung!
