Great Guest Bed Solution! King Koil Air Mattress Queen with Built-in Pump
I have only used this for two guests for one night, but I am extremely pleased with the results so far. The packaging and case for the bed are great. The inflating and deflating functions VERY well. It packed away again in the case nicely. The guest reported an excellent experience sleeping on the bed. I would (and may still) buy a second unit to have on hand. I am very pleased with this product. We were considering a Murphy bed type solution, but this is so much better for installing and then packing away again. It is mobile, easy to handle and about a 20th of the price of the cheapest murphy type bed. Thank you. Again, I highly recommend this solution.

Great sleep
I took this mattress on a weekend camping trip. It rained the entire time. I think I slept better on this mattress than I do at home. It was the right height and my pillow stayed in place. It was easy to inflate with the built in pump. It deflates just as easy and packs away in it storage bag. The mattress is a thick material that doesn’t appear that it will easily puncture. I did put a little more air in the mattress on the second night. That could be a temperature adjustment. This is a high quality mattress. I’m happy that I bought it. I would recommend it to anyone.

GREAT BED - GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE - SERIOUSLY - AGAIN!!!!
July 21, 2019 OK, So, I am writing another review on top of my first review for this company and this bed because I can't figure out how to write a second review for the same product. (Or if it's possible to do so.). This company is one in a million! It's not a great time to be a consumer, in this world, however, the people at King Koil (Patrick) have proved me wrong and have gone far beyond what anyone would expect from an air mattress company!! They replaced my bed - TWICE!! If you have ever gone to Target or Walmart and bought an air mattress for yourself, please take note of how the manufacturer has shielded themselves from any returns, whatsoever! (One particular, well known, Canadian company comes to my mind - no problem for them to take your money and run!) It's very hard, for some reason, for air mattress companies to stand behind their product. King Koil however, makes it clear that your satisfaction, as a customer, is VERY important to them. Your review of their product and your "word of mouth" makes a difference to them. They feel confident about their product and if you are unsatisfied with it, in any way, they want to make it right with you. I'd have to search Amazon at long time to come across a review that tells the world that they would be foolish to purchase a similar product from any other company in the WORLD! BTW, this review should have been written a few months ago. I apologize for the delay (I've been a little busy). Thank you to King Koil for standing by your product and replacing my purchase twice. I appreciate your commitment to customer satisfaction, your speedy emails back to me (Patrick) and for making the replacement effortless. I'm very sorry for not getting this review up sooner as I don't want to diminish my appreciation. You guys are great and my mattress is unbelievable comfortable!! Thank you!!!!!! I cannot tell explain how happy I am with the customer service for this company. Before that though, let me mention that the bed is beautiful and I love the self inflate feature that allows you to just plug it in, turn a dial and it inflates immediately. No pulling out a separate item that has to be purchased, plugging it in, trying to reach the bed to blow it up, etc...... This is a no hassle inflating procedure. I had the bed about 9 months and it developed a slow leak. I figured I would need to purchase another but checked my receipt to see when I purchased it and noticed that it had a year long guarantee. I contacted the company, through Amazon and within 5 minutes I got an email back stating that my bed was under guarantee and they would send me a replacement. They wanted a picture of the "damage". After a couple days, I checked the bed and could not find where the leak was coming from. I wrote another email back to them and again - 5 minutes later received a reply stating "no problem, we will rush you a replacement.”- “No need to send back the damaged bed!” What a relief to not have to deal with repacking the damaged bed and mailing it back to them. Within 2 days - I received a replacement. What a breeze!!! This was top-notch customer service! After dealing with a competitor of King Koil’s a few years back, I cannot explain how impressed I was by King Koil's customer service and how quickly they stood by their product. A few years ago, after purchasing an air bed from a competitor, I noticed that mold had developed on the top of the mattress. I sent a picture to the manufacturer and they sent me a replacement. Several months later, I took the bed out to use and after blowing it up, I discovered that they had sent me a cheaper, low end bed that was substantially smaller than the one I had originally purchased. When I called and emailed the manufacturer, they told me that my bed was now no longer covered under the warranty so they wouldn't do anything about it. I told them that THEY made an error (I don't really think it was an error). They would not stand by their product or their mistake. I believe they shipped me an inferior product replacement because that is how they do business. They also make it clear, in writing, all over the box and on literature inside the box, that it will not be easy to return this product. I will never buy another product from that competitor's company and I make sure that I tell everyone I know not to buy from them. They are unprofessional, the quality is awful and the customer service is horrendous. I am so pleased with King Koil and the person that emailed me back several times to help me resolve my issue. More than once, Patrick wrote in his email that "we are here for you". Thank you, Patrick!!! It was a pleasure to work with you and I am very pleased with my purchase. I recommend the bed and the company very highly!!!! Best regards, Jill Mc

Better than most
The bed is comfortable, fills and deflates quickly, has a plush top, and is quality materials. They do not need the pillow, in fact, please make a similar model without one. Additionally, the bed measured 16”, I thought they sent me the wrong bed at first but confirmed it was the right product number. It is not 20”, if I count the pillow its still only 19”, and not after it had time to stretch either. So it is not as tall as specs or as it looks in the photo. It is a quality air mattress though compared to others, and I kept it out of necessity. May buy again if they remove the built in pillow.

"California King" sized King Koil air mattress- finally, an air mattress that's nearly true-to-size!
2025 Update: we've now had this mattress 7 years. We use it every year 2 or 3 times for a few nights each time. We've never had a single issue with it. It still holds air and feels as supportive as day one. For what it's worth. Original 2018 review: (Haven't had this a long time, but I will update this as time goes on to add any longevity pros or cons as needed.) I find that typically air mattress manufacturers consistently over-state their mattresses' size. "Queen" is typically equal to a regular bed's Full/Double, and "King", if offered, is typically a regular bed's Queen, etc... Sizes are always a weak point with buying & using an air mattress, even good ones, so I will try to be as thorough with sizing as possible and not dwell on the stuff you already know and that most other reviewers have mentioned, like height, built-in pump, ease of use, etc, stuff that applies to any size King Koil and that you probably already know. (See my pics for actual shots of laying in it for perspective). I ordered King Koil's "California King" and I have to admit, it's actually close- it's more a blend of the dimensions of a regular King (76x80) and a California King *(72x84). *Yes, California Kings are 4" narrower than regular Kings, but 4" longer. KING KOIL CALIFORNIA KING MEASUREMENTS: OVERALL: 73"x86" by my best attempts to measure (round edges make it hard to get an exact when using a tape measure)... counting outside the top edges only, not any extra side bulges. So, this is NOT counting how much room you'd need in a tent necessarily. This is fully inflated with no weight on it. Expect some minor increased width requirements when actually sleeping on it. USABLE SPACE: 63x80" counting the pillow end. MORE DETAIL: ~63" wide, x ~80" length counting the pillow edge to inside the foot edging, or about 70" length inside the pillow & foot edges. (In the pic of my legs, I am laying my head inside the pillow end, and I still have plenty of room with no danger of my feet poking out the end. I am 5'8" tall. MY IMPRESSIONS: Even only counting the usable space, the size of this one is still acceptable to me, since this places it with still 3" more usable sleeping width than a regular bed's true Queen mattress. Score! The "Queen" sized air mattresses offered by KK and most other manufacturers, being smaller than a real Queen bed, don't allow for very comfortable 2-person sleeping, unless you can deal with the always-touching, 'snuggling' kind of partnered sleeping. While there's a time for that, for my wife & I it's not all night while catching some Zs camping. INITIAL SETUP: OK I said I wouldn't dwell on this, but I'll touch on it- The pump inflated this King sizer in somewhere between 4-5 minutes, and it sounds like a quieter-than-most vacuum cleaner running. It has power-deflate, which is a nice perk that many built-in pump mattresses do not have. When fully inflated the first time, I gently got on. Not sure if you're not supposed to or what (the manual has NOTHING about initial care & break in), but I did to listen for leaks. No leaks, yay! Spent about 2 minutes on it, then got off to let it stretch. I let it sit undisturbed for 4 hrs. Then I laid back down on it. It felt full- great support! After I got off it I realized it had lost some air, the sides were quite squishy. I topped her off for several seconds until full again. The great thing about knowing this is that even when it loses some air it still feels great, supportive. No sag. Obviously there's a point where it will sag if it's low enough, but even when needing a minor top-off it feels great! COMFORT: I find it comfy for what it is. Not "hard" but not overly squishy. All air mattresses will have some bounce when a partner moves beside you, so of course you should expect that going in. But this one does a good job at minimizing that compared to previous air beds form other makers I've used. The flocked top does nothing for comfort really, since it's not squishy, but it helps not be noisy when you roll around on it, creating that awful balloon-rubbing sound. And if you add a squishy memory foam topper under the sheet you'll be in great shape! CLOSING THOUGHTS: King Koil's "California King" air mattress is recommended for being a few inches wider than a regular Queen bed (and MUCH wider than ALL so-called "Queen" air mattresses!) and right about the size of a true California King all said & done. It's big, and great for 2 people who need their space. If you're using this for camping, make sure your tent has these dimensions and then some, or at least test it out in your tent at home before you head out! MY PICTURES: 1) The mattress with 2 standard pillows for perspective 2) My feet when laying with my head inside the pillow end. I'm 5'8" and there's plenty of legroom, even more if you use the pillow end. (Side note- these socks are great, I need to review those too!) 3) Me laying comfortably inside one edge. As you see I take up 3 runs of indentations (I'm 5'8, 200lbs). Another person my size would leave approx 12" space in between both people. Finally!

WARNING: Contains Noxious Chemical Odor & Compressor has High Pitch Whine
Buyer beware. This product contains noxious chemicals that are damaging to your health and will have lasting effects on the quality of your homes environment. I purchased this King Koil 16" queen air mattress as a means of having my parents stay over. I read that it is ideal to have it blown up and left out over a number of hours 1) So as to let the bed best maintain its shape and 2) to let it air out as it may come with an unpleasant scent. My unboxing started off with opening the well designed box in my living room, excited to test out my new air mattress. I took off the plastic wrapping, and then unfolded the bed. Suddenly an overpowering chemical odor filled my room. I felt the need to bring the bed into my office and close the door so that the odor wouldn't fill the whole house. At this point, I had a painful headache suddenly erupt. I opened both of my windows and turned on the fan. At first I figured the scent would be akin to the foam mattress I had purchased years ago, and that the scent would quickly dissipate. I proceeded to follow the instructions to plug in the mattress and let it inflate. What followed what could best be described as a compressor that was optimized for efficiency but did not even in the slightest consider user experience. The fan was extremely efficient and filled the bed within 2 minutes. However, it was an extremely high pitch whine that was painful to be next to. I had to leave the room. I realized at this point the odor had filled the house. I proceeded to open up all of my houses windows and turned on all of the fans. When I saw the bed was nearly full, I re-entered my office and turned off the compressor. I decided to follow the instructions and let it sit for 8-12 hours over night while I left one of the office's windows open and fan on. I turned off the fans and closed the windows to the rest of the house a few hours later before bed. My headache didn't go away that night. The next morning I woke up with an excruciating headache. The chemical odor was still extremely strong in my house. I opened all the windows and turned on all the fans again. When I opened the door to my office I was overpowered by the chemical smell, despite the fan and window being open all night. I immediately deflated the air mattress, being sure to close my office door behind me so as to contain the odor, and packed the mattress into its travel bag attempting to get rid of the odor. At this time, the mattress had a much fainter odor. The odor in the office, however, remained very powerful. I opened my second office window & let the office air out over the entire day. By the end of the day, after having all windows open and fans on, the odor was only faint in certain parts of the house but remained strong in my office. That night, with the odor still very strong in the office, I noticed that there was a fine layer of black particles covering many surfaces. Upon reflection, I inevitably inhaled whatever this was & it is likely what caused my headaches. I decided to sweep, dust, and deep clean the office. This significantly helped remove the odor - however, it was still present. I left the window open and fan on over night. The next morning I was no longer having headaches and the scent was no longer in any part of the house other than the office, where it was still noticeably present but no longer overwhelming. Unfortunately, I had to work in this environment. I left the windows open and fan on all day. It was at this point that I decided that I couldn't in good conscious have my parents sleep on this mattress. I set it up through Amazon to return it the next day. By the next morning the odor no longer was noticeable in my office. On the other hand, I am questioning what potential long term effects this experience could have on my body. The King Koil Air Mattress is made of PVC. PVC is made with a number of chemicals that are released throughout its lifespan. This includes chemicals such as Phthalates to help soften the PVC. According to the National Institute of Health "Phthalates are a series of widely used chemicals that demonstrate to be endocrine disruptors and are detrimental to human health. Phthalates can be found in most products that have contact with plastics during producing, packaging, or delivering. Despite the short half-lives in tissues, chronic exposure to phthalates will adversely influence the endocrine system and functioning of multiple organs, which has negative long-term impacts on the success of pregnancy, child growth and development, and reproductive systems in both young children and adolescents." Wang Y, Qian H. Phthalates and Their Impacts on Human Health. Healthcare (Basel). 2021 May 18;9(5):603. doi: 10.3390/healthcare9050603. PMID: 34069956; PMCID: PMC8157593. It is truly a crime against humanity that a product made of such hazardous material could be sold to people at all, let alone in the name of profit. It's extremely concerning that at the time of writing this was one of the highest rated mattresses on Amazon. On the other hand, there are other air mattresses out there that use thermal plastics (TPU), are Phthalate free, are the same price, and will inevitably be a much more worthwhile investment. Please take the time to seek these out rather than purchasing this mattress. Bottom line: For the health of yourself and your family - do not buy this mattress.

Excellent Air Bed!
I bought this twin size King Koil luxury air mattress to use on our two week beach vacation. It far exceeded my expectations! It was super easy to set up and inflated in less than 90 seconds. It was a nice height, so it was easy for me to get in and out of bed. The mattress remained almost fully inflated the first night, and only needed a few seconds to inflate back to full (very normal, as I didn't inflate and let it stretch before vacation). It was easily adjusted to the perfect firmness or softness using the self inflation/deflation valves. I left it inflated for the whole two weeks. I slept more comfortably then I ever have away from home (I just am never able to sleep well in hotel beds, just too firm!) I used regular fitted sheets with really deep pockets which worked great. We just picked up the mattress fully inflated and popped it in an out of the way corner during the day. When it came time to go home, the auto deflation worked so well! The mattress fully deflated with zero air left in the mattress. I was stunned! I was able to fold it back up to its original size to put it away on it's super handy carry bag. I was so comfortable on this mattress, I could have lounged on it all day! Highly recommend!

Great Air Matress That Sleeps Like a Fabric Matress
This air mattress has worked very well for us. It is sitting height when inflated so you don't feel like you are on the floor. The fan assisted inflate and deflate couldn’t be faster. The bed held it's inflation nicely for days as long as you did the inflate the day before to get it stretched a bit. After every night we did a little 15 second pump up as recommended. No issues overnight. Have had a couple and an older man use it. Both were very happy sleeping in it. One commented on how comfortable it was to sleep on. The fan assisted deflate was fast a d made it easy to fold and store with all the air removed. Highly recommend.

Tried to Inflate-SHORT CIRCUIT
Upon receipt, we tried to inflate the King Koil Twin Air Mattress with Built in Pump, but the internal pump starting smoking as it appeared the motor short circuited and would not inflate. We double checked the wall plug and the wall plug had no issues so it was clear the King Koil was defective.

Scam, avoid!
This was a horrendous experience, it never worked, the pump blew up, the quality was so pathetic, had to throw it away without even using it once. Very disappointing for such a price!

Not for European outlets
Not for European outlets! Soooo, pretty much useless. Very annoying. I had an adapter, but apparently not the correct type and the motor died. Money out the window.

Great value, and durability. Comfortable. Effortless to deflate and inflate. Love it!
Great value, very comfortable! Effortless to inflate and deflate - a very nice surprise. Slept on it for four months - very happy with it. Much more comfortable and user friendly than I imagined it would be. Excellent quality in every way. I expect it to last a long time. I have used other air mattresses - hated them, they were so cheap that they started leaking after about 5 weeks.
