Unlocking the Universe

My 14y/o nephew LOVES all things "Space", he was already 2 chapters "in" only 10min after opening the present! This is the first present that I got a hand written Thank You for from him.

Science explained in a way that all can understand. I'm 72 and enjoyed it tremendously.

Although the book is full of interesting topics, it contains unforgivable errors, such as stating that the orbits of Venus and Neptune around the Sun are clockwise, unlike the other planets, which is completely absurd. It confuses the rotational movement with the translational movement of these two planets, not to mention other errors. I bought the book thinking that the texts were by the great Stephen Hawking and not by Lucy Hawking.

We started reading the George and the secret keys to the universe series, and bought this after he had finished the set. It was a great synopsis of the things that they touched upon in the books all in one volume. The entire series was wonderful, and made Stephen Hawkings theories exciting and understandable for a young student, and bridged his interest to continue pursuing science. And, as a mom, it's fun to tell your friends that your elementary aged kid is reading Stephen Hawking books....😆

A wonderful book, perfectly written, making even complex concepts easy to understand.

My 9 y.o. loves this book. We've previously discussed a lot of the concepts, but this seems to answer questions I hadn't thought of, but my son wanted to know. Easy to understand and great for adults as well - if you just want a simple explanation. If you're after a more in-depth understanding (not the aim of this book, but if it sparks an interest in you and you want to follow up ), then I suggest Simon Singh's The Big Bang.

The delivery was quick. Got it the next day. The book is really good except for the fact that most of the pages are black and white. There are few color (polished) pages but for that price, it is not up to the mark. That's why I am only giving 4 stars. However, the content is good and suitable for young explorers.
