'Teaches you the truth about trading and an understanding of difference between winners and losers' – Jack Schwager, author of the Market Wizards series What if the secret to trading success isn't better analysis – but a radically different mindset? Best Loser Wins is an intimate insight into one of the most prolific high-stake retail traders in the world. Tom Hougaard is the winner of multiple trading competitions and on one occasion traded £25,000 into more than £1 million over the course of a year. While the average retail trader risks £10 per point in the underlying asset, Tom frequently risks up to £3,500 per point. This risk exposure requires a mindset that is out of the ordinary. A unique and refreshingly personal account of how Tom elevated his trading game to incredible heights, Best Loser Wins will guide and inspire you in ways no other finance book has before. It is not about technical analysis strategies and money management – it is about mind management. You'll learn: - How to elevate your game from mediocre and sporadic, to excellent and consistent - How to overcome conventional and flawed thinking in trading - A blueprint for a new belief system Best Loser Wins is an antidote to outdated trading advice. Normal thinking leads to normal results. For exceptional results, traders must think differently. 'People don't fail because they don't know enough about technical analysis. They fail because they don't understand what the markets are doing to their minds.' – Tom Hougaard Review: Great Book, Highly Recommended - This book is one of the best books I've ever read about trading and psychology. I bought it recently and have read it twice. I really like the authors down to earth style and have learnt a lot. I had no idea how much the mind and how you think about trading plays such an important part in it. You can know everything about technical analysis and fundamental analysis and have a proven strategy but that doesn't guarantee success. You must have the right mindset as well. If you can master your psychology, then you stand a much better chance of success. Without that, it's likely that you won't be able to trade consistently and be profitable. This book is a real gem, I highly recommended it. The other book I would also highly recommend is Trading In The Zone by Mark Douglas Review: Essential reading for any trader, new or experienced - This book I have read a dozen times, it is Essential for any trader new or old. Tom lays out the truth of trading and how it goes against all human nature and how we need to combat that to succeed. And a nice bonus is Tom donates all sales to charity.

Good
I am just going to put it out there that there is nothing you don't know written in this book. Seriously. You know you need to keep winners running, you know you need to cut your losses, you know you need to focus and train your mind to execute flawlessly, you know your strategy is profitable, but you can't make it profitable. The thing is there is a difference between knowing something and doing something. And sometimes, just someone telling you that what you think is the right way (even though you knew it, but never did it) helps boost confidence that you're on the right lines. I've always wanted to add to winners, but get annoyed when they go the wrong way and reverse on me and on the fair few times i have added it has just done that, and ive always had the mentality that my stop loss is where I am proven wrong. The one thing I haven't done is be consistent at it. Add to winners, and it reverses, I'll just set a tp next time, and it wins, let it hit stop, cut positions early, cut stops early before being proven wrong. All these inconsistencies alter the trajectory of a PnL chart a lot. Couple with this, and coupled with the idea of 20 trades and ignore the outcome, I'm going to just do it. Ignore my reptile mind and just do it. I mean, if it fails, then so be it. The way I and the majority of people do things are going to fail anyway. May as well fail "properly" than by half attempting something. Good book, well worth the read just to expose your mind to new ideas. Would recommend. Even to those who aren't necessarily trading but are in other high risk ventures. Thank you Tom

MUST HAVE - if you are a serious trader
Very well detailed book and how to shift your mindset in trading. If you are at a stumbling block and find yourself fighting mentally with the market, give this a read and take notes. I have recommended this book to a number of trader friends who all agree and it was also suggest to myself, to which I am grateful. A MUST HAVE if a trader.

Fantastic to work on mindset
Brilliant book. I don't agree 100% with some of the stuff (mostly the very few technical things in the book. Which are subjective depending on person anyway) but in terms of working on mindset around trading this has made a huge difference to me and helped me start to remove some bad habits and a big part of being able to do this was understanding the psychology behind it. Why I was thinking and acting in certain ways. Would recommend to any trader. Especially if you aren't Consistent despite trying many different systems. This could change the game for you!

Enjoyable Read
Very readable book that I finished in a couple of sessions. Hougaard is brutally honest about his own trades, and indeed about his life. Did I learn anything new? No, I didn't. Truth is, there's not much new to learn once you've read a few trading books. Most people know what they should be doing. Actually doing it, when you've got money on the line is something else.

GOAT Tier Trading Book.
Not even finished it yet but k ow it’s 5 stars. The things I’ve been able to take away from this apply to my trading are unreal. Makes you have a real look in the mirror and also accept risk and losses are part of trading. Would give 6 stars if I could, awesome book

Change your mind. Change your bottom like
This is an essential book for anyone who wants to confront their flawed self. Not everyone can. I believe everyone should try trading at least once. Trading is like being a comic on stage. But instead of making jokes about yourself for pity laughs, with this book you can understand your psychology, work on your weaknesses, and make money. There are strong synergies in trading psychology with self development and spiritual traditions. Underpinning all these is the primary function and habit of the mind which is holding you back: the habit of avoiding loss and pain. Once confronted, the theory is, you can achieve a fuller version of yourself. I would complement this book with a course and potential live shadowing of a real trader to understand how to read a chart, market conditions, when to enter, and risk management. Good luck

Just wow. The best trading book I've read so far during my 7+ experience in the markets.
Tom Hougaards book is a must-have for the trader that feels hen is currently in "no mans land" on their trading journey towards profitability, or for the experienced trader that wants to take it to the next level. This is not a book filled with bs chart indicators, patterns and all the other technical analysis information that every other trading book is offering. Briefly speaking: This book is about what "The Ideal Trading Mindset" looks like and is all about, and how we as traders need to really dig in deeper into ourselves to find the issues that keeps us from being the true traders that we know we are - and how to solve these issues. Simply put: It's about how to develop the psychology needed to operate as a high stake day trader on a consistent basis - like a professional. It's a book that will be read many times over. Worth every single penny. I can recommend this book whole-heartedly and want to thank Tom Hougaard for his wisdom, and his time to write this book.

Easy to read, but packed with good insights for Day Trading
Captivating! I usually struggle to finish books I read, but found this a breeze to read. Will finish it soon and plan to go through it again slowly. Tom backs up all his recommendations for trading with hard core experience. He is not shy to share his failures along with his successes in a very practical and realistic way. I have watched many videos, sat through lectures and read a number of books. Tom discusses all of what I learned from those and turns them around into a couple of fundamental points to practice for successful day trading. No BS, just truth. Love the book and would recommend to anyone serious about day trading, have worked hard at it but have not gotten far. Thank you, Tom for sharing your knowledge.
