My cat loves rabbit pate. Great product with no fillers.

This cat food is unique in that it actually behaves like meat when I transfer it from the can to my cat's bowl. In other words it isn't a sticky loaf-like food aka paté but it more or less crumbles and could probably be swallowed without excessive chewing if your feline is lacking a few. I rotate my cat's food and he enthusiastically downed the first can, was a little less enthusiastic about the second can when its turn came in the rotation, and turned his nose up but did eventually eat all of the third can when it stepped up to the plate, er, bowl. Over the months since I adopted him I've learned that besides fish it's novelty that he enjoys although he now completely rejects anything that spent its life covered with feathers. And to think I was seriously considering paying the price for the duck in this line until I caught on to his feather antipathy. So much for the experts' recommendation of feeding cats meat from only fur and feathered animals. He also was less than thrilled with the primarily feather toys I waved then dragged in front of him, but responded in a flash to the one that looks like a ball of bunny fur, and he still does. Or maybe it's a matter of price. When he approached his bowl with gusto it was to the tune of $3.19/can purchased from the local pet palace primarily to see if he would eat it. Now that I'm paying the Subscribe & Save price of a "mere" $2.22/can he doesn't find it as appealing but he eats it nonetheless. This food lists an assortment of plants at the very end of the ingredients, so you're paying primarily for rabbit and pork liver.

I have been finding quality food for one of my kitties who has developed an allergy to chicken. I hesitated on this brand because of the price, but then when I saw how limited my choices were I broke down and ordered a few of the flavors. I have to say I am very pleased with the quality. I also ordered some Evo venison and duck as well as the Natural Balance limited ingredients venison with peas and the duck with peas. Neither of those COMPARE to this brand and my cats testify to that as well as I do. The texture is so much better and she loves these the most. I have gotten her the rabbit, duck and venison and she eats them all with more relish that either Evo or Natural Balance. I do have to say that of those lesser brands, the Natural Balance venison does have a nice texture and not as "pasty" as the duck with peas. Mabel wasn't as crazy about it though, although she did eat it all but not with the same excitement as the Instinct brand. When you are having a problem with a cat that can not or will not eat something, when you find something she will, it is worth it's weight in gold! This brand is a keeper.

My cat's favoriate flavor of all Instinct canned cat food is the rabbit formula. The rabbit formula seems to be "juicier" than other formula such as chicken, duck, beef, and lamb (cat tried all these). Since my cat loves to lick the juice/gravy, he is partial to the rabbit formula. Also, the rabbit formula seems to be the healthier choice, since it has the highest percentage of protein, and less percentage of fat. However, the rabbit formula has been in shortage for at least 3 months or longer. As a result, it is extremely hard to get the 3oz package online. I wrote an email to the customer service, one of the representatives from Nature's Variety told me that they absolutely plan to continue this line of product, but they have a shortage of raw (rabbit) material. Further, this supply problem will likely to last for a couple of months. I think this shortage of supply is what drives the price of rabbit 3oz cans to a new high ($34/24-pack), compares to the other more common formula such as chicken and beef ($23/24-pack). Oh well, I bit my tongue and bought two cases for my spoiled KittyCat, but I will rotate the rabbit meat with other more reasonably priced Instinct diets.
