Genius Paw Seabelt Guard for pet and Children

I bought 2 of these for a long road trip with the dogs. They do work good at stopping paws from hitting the seatbelt release button. I did find out that if the dog lays down they have a tendency to lift out of place and become useless. What I did to fix that was buy some hook and loop stick on fasteners (similar to velcro) and place them on the inside of the buckle guard and the seatbelt receiver. These are "universal fit" and worked in the back of a Honda Civic, but they are bigger than they need to be. Also if you are going to use these to secure a dog get a full body harness. You don't want to just clip a seatbelt leash to a collar.

First...some of these reviews are about a strap. They are mostly positive. The strap IS NOT the product. The reviews for the buckle cover are overwhelming negative. This gives the buckle a higher overall rating than it should have. Common trick by some Amazon sellers.The cover is close to worthless for standard car seat buckles. The cover is far too big to stay secure on the seat buckle. It slips around and my dog can still release the buckle. Will not work on normal seat buckles. I have a medium sedan so I am sure the buckles are a standard size. Without making your modifications (adding materials to the inside of the cover) this is not going to work.

I purchased a Kurgo Harness for my Samoyed puppy, since he had a tendency to literally leverage himself up from the back seat to drape himself around my neck when driving. He then learned how to release the seat belt to obviate the use of the harness. Obviously not a safe driving habit, so I purchased this and found that it solved my problems.A simple solution for a dangerous problem. Highly recommended.

Since we have been using this buckle guard, our dog has not once unsnapped her seat belt. It is easy to use but fits a bit sloppy over our buckle. We saw an online video which showed how to cut and fit cardboard inside the buckle to make it fit more snugly. Also, I am a bit worried that I am going to lose the slider that fits over the release button as it is not attached and is a rather small piece. Overall, I would recommend this to keep your dog safe.

This is the BEST invention for dog car rides. Yes, hammocks are great too, but this seatbelt insures your pup doesn't get jolted forward if you have to make a sudden stop. I find it best to attach the carabineer to a harness rather than your pup's collar. The only reason I knock off a star is that it's EXTREMELY difficult to adjust the strap length, I have had this for a few months now and have not fully mastered this feature :(All in all, a great purchase. I did purchase a couple more as gifts for friends/ family this holiday season because the price and quality is awesome.

my dog just unbuckles himself constantly by stepping on the seat belt release. kind of really stinks and defeats the purpose of keeping them safely contained in the backseat. maybe this works for other smaller dogs but i have a very large german shepard mix and he is a dangerous projectile in my back seat, it would be great to figure out a way to keep him safe and secure but this was not it.

Dog was stepping on seat belt and unbuckling herself, didn't know this product was out there, I guess other people have dogs that can do this too!!

Love this! 4 stars due to the fact I wish the strap was made to fit on the small end of the carabiner, it would be much easier to get my pup buckled in that way. I moved the strap to the small end and its not a great fit, but it works. Overall this is a great product for the price and helps keep my dog and I safe in the car.
