Great beginner pole for toddlers and kids. Little one caught their first bluegill with it. Functions exactly as it should. Casting and reeling are both smooth. Awesome price point. Only thing I would mention is that the decal on it makes it seem a bit cheap. Appears to just be slapped on there. But I would absolutely recommend for its functionality.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Good size for young kids. Fun themes. And it works very well for a beginner set up. However, if you make a product specifically for younger kids, why not make it buoyant enough to float at least for a while so it can be retrieved when it is inevitably dropped over the side? Bought one for my grandson. On the second cast it slipped out of his hand and over the side and sunk like a stone. He cried his eyes out.

This is a nice little fishing rod. I bought it to use as a cat toy - tie a catnip mouse to the line and send it out through the living room while watching TV. The small rod is good for indoor use and the cat loves to chase the mouse. Its actually a capable casting rod and reel and you can drop the mouse pretty accurately. I think it would be an excellent introduction to angling for a young person. Both rod and reel seem to be well made, the line seems to be pretty low test though.

Awesome first rod for a toddler to practice on. Got this for my kid and shes already caught a few fish on it. Its nice and compact to store in the house or in the car.
