It's not often something actually works as advertised, but this is one of those times. I've been using this for 3 years now - every week - heavy trash bin. Still working great. I'm buying a second one for a friend. Great product!

Thick and solid construction. Extremely easy to hook up (took less than a minute) and does the trick for hauling the trash can down a half mile driveway. The only “con” is that it had to be mounted on the front of my John Deere Gator (825i). The caddy is not long enough to secure the dumpster because it hits the tailgate. I’m pretty sure I saw an extender to get around this but it’s not necessary when it can be mounted up front.

The trash can transporter is convenient to use, but required slight modification. In addition, a strap is required to hold the top of the trash container close to the towing vehicle. Without a strap supporting the top, the plastic trash can distorts where the bottom of the hitch adapter presses into it, allowing the trash can to tilt excessively even when lightly loaded. It was no problem to make a strap using about 8' of rope and plastic hooks off a bungee cord. The Arctic Cat had a luggage rack on the rear that made a convenient fastening point. Rework: The latch pin ends had zero clearance to the sides of the top channel and would not properly drop into latch position. Added electrical tape to the sides of the bottom channel to hold the sides of the top channel away from the latch pin ends. The release lever bolts had to be adjusted to provide rather high friction so that the release lever would remain in the release position. This made the leaver unpleasant to operate. The solution was to shorten the lever arm of the release cam possibly ¾” and drill a new hole for the release spring. This caused less torque on the release lever allowing the bolts to be adjusted for less friction, and now the force required to operate the release lever is acceptable. Application: Used on an Arctic Cat with the inside bottom of 2” receiver 14.5” above the floor. With the Tote Caddy adjusted to maximum height, the trash can wheels cleared the floor by 2” unloaded but still dragged when loaded. With the strap holding the top of the trash container and still the highest adjustment of the Tote Caddy, the ground clearance loaded was about 8".

After thinking about designing some sort of furniture dolly/wagon/trailer hitch monstrosity out of random parts from the local hardware store, I saw an ad for this product. I'm going to stop short of using the phrase 'life changing', but my life has been changed in the way that I no longer need to lift a full trash can once a week up to the bed of my truck. The description and video are pretty much spot on - it does as advertised. I decided to spray some silicone lubricant on the little release handle since I am lazy and this now lives on the back of my truck forever. I added some reflective stickers on it so that when someone injures themselves on it by being too close to my tailgate they won't be able to claim that they couldn't see it. I did notice that the leverage of the lifter on the front of the trash can does put some pressure there and has already made a mark in the plastic, so I may need to add something to distribute that weight out a bit. Still cheaper than all the experiments I would have done with lawn mower wheels and a home-made attempted trailer hitch. For perspective, my trash can lives about 1/2 mile from where the trash folks are willing to come get it, and it's all hills and curves and whatnot. When full, the can stays upright and only hits the wheels on the ground at the bottom of my largest hill. When empty, the can will kind of tilt and ride a little sideways. That can be fixed by just tossing it into the bed of the truck when it's empty and light. I am sure that actual handy or welding-capable folks might look at this and wonder why I decided to part with money for it - but they're not here helping me lift the trash and take it out every week, so I am not really interested in their opinions. I bought this for a golf cart. The Riser does not go high enough (it has three adjustment heights) so i had to buy a MaxxHaul 70070 Dual Hitch Extension - 4000 lbs. so I could get it higher. Also, the U piece that locks onto the can was too wide. It was almost 6" wide and the rod on my trash can is only 5". I had to have my son's shop trim it down on the left and right to make it fit. The device seems solidly made and it works well enough. I worry that the lock that keeps it from dropping could flip out of position. I will watch this and if necessary I will install a trip lock pin. This TC5000 makes it much easier to move these heavy / bulky totes and i recommend it but note that you may need to do some modifying to make it work for you.

I bought this three years ago and it still works great. I have to couple it with the adaptor when I connect it to my CRV. I use it every week to haul two cans up and down my long steep driveway. The lever action arm makes it easy to attach even a heavy trash can. Release is easy - takes only one hand. Both the tote caddy and the adaptor are made of aluminum - plenty strong but much lighter than steel. Strongly recommend.

Does not work on my Polaris Ranger 570 Full Size (would need the adapter to raise the hitch height) but does work on my 2013 F-150 4x4 and 2018 Jeep Wrangler. I can see how this item wouldn't work with any vehicle that has low ground clearance. I suppose you can buy the optional adapters, but who wants to spend even more money for such a simple device? The pricing is the only thing preventing me from giving 5 stars. Update: I've been using this weekly for two years now, and it still works exactly like it did the day I got it. Very nice product as long as your hitch height is in the acceptable range. As far as how it works...so far it's done the job for me. I have managed to use it successfully to get my loaded trash can to the end of my 1/2 mile gravel road which has curves and hills. Some weeks my can is heavy. Very heavy. Others it's more lightweight. This item has worked well for a year now with no failures and no modifications.

I hate to say, but I am VERY disappointed in this product. The over all design is very poor, wobbly and unstable. VERY over priced for what it is. There are several things I would have done differently if I designed this. Is difficult to use, to latch and unlatch. Very unintuitive. It puts a major pressure point against the can under the hook, which could have been easily resolved with a flat piece of sheet metal welded on. Says its rated at 200lbs! Yeah I don't think so. I have maybe 50lbs in the can and im worried about putting more in. Its so wobbly and floppy due to poorly fitting tubing, not the hook itself. Its so floppy im worried about driving up my gravel driveway! Also, the welds are some of the worst I've seen on ANY metal product I've purchased in my life. It's embarrassing. Like a 5 year old did it. Maybe a 5 year old DID do it? Common. Zero quality control. Overall I'm very disappointed because I've needed something like this for years. Very disappointed this is supposedly made in 'America' I DON'T RECOMMEND. I'M ONLY KEEPING CAUSE IM OUT OF OPTIONS BUT WILL HAVE TO MODIFY IT HEAVILY IM SURE.

works great, but needed slight modifications to grip my recycling bin. my old car was fine,allowing me to reach out the windoto haul bins, but my truck is too high, so this unit saves me a lot of walking. a grinder made quick work of shortening the attachment point enough for my recycling bin.my compost bin is too heavy to lift, but i dont use a brown bin at my farm the has half a mile of driveway.
