Better IR flood than I expected - no hot spots and wide angle of coverage
Item arrived well packaged and undamaged. Nothing was loose inside the metal housing of the light. I have had a few Chinese flood lights like this before with loose items rolling around inside which is unsettling. This one was solid and felt like decent quality. Anyhow, everything works on it. All of the IR LEDs work. I am using this IR light to supplement the built in IR of the Nest Outdoor Cam, which is very weak. It worked better than expected. The coverage in my backyard is wide without any noticeable hotspots. It makes for a very nice flood IR light experience providing light as far back as about 100 feet and wide as about also 100 feet. It came with a power supply that I plugged into an outdoor power outlet which is about three feet away from the light. I noticed after about 7 hours of usage that it does not get hot to the touch. Just barely warm to the touch. The light sensor works perfectly at turning the IR light on at dusk and off at dawn. So this is after using it for about a week. I will provide an update after a few months in our South Dakota winter to see how it holds up. Fingers crossed. At night, you do clearly see the gentle glow of 12-red led lights. Any burglar would notice this and probably be confused by what it is. It looks kind of Sci-Fi-ish. So far it is well worth the $39 I paid and I am pleased more than I thought I would be.

A work-around for bugs
Our outdoor surveillance cameras make just enough heat to attract bugs and spider webs. Unless you run a rag around to clear the area every other night, the spider webs' movement sets off the alert. We figured out it is the heat from the built-in infrared LEDs. So we have turned off those lights, instead using this fixture mounted well off to the side and above the camera. This has more power = more illumination than the internal camera LEDs, and the wavelength seems identical to what the camera wants to see during night vision. Highly recommended.

The real deal. Great with Google Nest Cams
This IR emitter does a great job enhancing the night vision capabilities of current Google Nest cams. Mounted next to my driveway cam and it's like a spotlight over 100' away if you aim it correctly. Camera wouldn't pick up activity after dark outside a close area until we installed this.. Now it recognizes activity as far away as we want it to. Unit is tough too. Got knocked to the ground in 150 MPH winds in the eyewall of hurricane Ivan. Re-mounted it today and words like new after a 10' fall to concrete. Would be great if it came in white. Bought the gray, masked off the lens and painted it white. Blends in nicely with our facia now. Great unit for the $.

Very Bright output and weather resistant!
I bought two of these units and have them outside in the weather. They are very bright at night and so far, both have survived the elements with out any issues. No moisture leaks and great performance night after night. Update: After only 8 months, the second unit that I purchased has failed. Seems to be rust residue in the Sensor window on the bottom like this unit developed a water leak. The First unit that I purchased still works so far. Unfortunately with Univivi, I have found that you either get lucky with a unit that is sealed properly, or little over half the time you get a poorly sealed unit. I have purchased a third unit to replace the one that failed.

Makes your night vision camera work much better
I uploaded a video to show what it looks like. You can see the floodlight on the left hand side of the video. With the floodlight, you can see everything perfectly clearly. Without the floodlight, you would have barely been able to see the coyotes walking by. I tried to upload before and after videos (the coyotes walk by almost every night) but Amazon only allows one video per review. The shadows on the left are caused by the fruit trees that block the light from the flood light. The wall is about 75 feet away so I am not pushing the distance that this floodlight can handle at all but it gives you an example of the power. Installation is not difficult but I have stucco walls which make the drilling part a little more difficult. It is helpful if you have 2 people but not required.

Terrific night infrared illumination.
After setting up my first 12 bulb floodlight by resting it against a window that had a RING doorbell outside the back door, I purchased 5 more. The first one that is still at this window, I monitored it for weeks for anything that may be a problem and cause it to overheat and found nothing even a slight bit warm for the amount of unseeable light it produced. Now I have 9 RING cameras with these floodlights that gives me incredible 360-degree surveillance of the main house and all outbuildings. This photo shows the location of one of these floodlights mounted under the top deck railing illuminating hundreds of feet into our back forest. I think you can imagine what 6 of these can do without an intruder knowing that they are being monitored. Simply amazing the advancement of night vision cameras and supplemental infrared lighting.

Bright but not durable, died within months.
This is bright as heck, it can even wash out your camera view if you aren't careful, however, it's not durable at all. Mine worked for about two months (conveniently outside the return window) before totally giving up the ghost. I would buy a different brand and model if I had to do it again.

Helps your cameras see farther at night!
We have Nest cameras outside our house. Like many similar cameras, the night vision (brightness and clarity) is not great because of the infrared light source on the cameras themselves. To improve that, you need to supplement the available infrared light by installing these devices. HOWEVER, these are too bright and the field is too narrow. I improved this by placing a piece of diffusion paper (for photographers) inside the device, between the light and the glass. The infrared light is not glaringly bright to the camera anymore and the light is cast over a wider area now. The diffusion paper is cheap to buy. On a side note, these devices lasted 2 or 3 years when fully exposed to the elements outside. Still worth it!

Nice quality product.
Works very well covers my whole garden. Supplements the pathetic infrared illumination of my D-Link CCTV camera. I had struggled to find a decent quality infrared illuminator of reasonable size at a sensible price. This fits the bill nicely and has worked flawlessly for the past six weeks or so.

Works well. Range is excellent.
This just arrived a few days ago after a little confusion about delivery date. It actually arrived much faster than suggested on the website. Initial impressions are very good. Case is cast aluminum and appears to be well made and sealed. One caveat: where the power cable enters the housing, there is a nut which I assumed to be a waterproof gland that grips the cable tightly to provide strain relief. However, I discovered that a slight pull revealed the two wires within, so there is no strain relief. No damage was done and it took a few minutes to open the case and put a zip tie around the cable. (See pic.) Shouldn't be necessary but was easy enough to do. That the entrance isn't truly waterproof is not critical as it's on the bottom of the case where no water would likely be present anyway. A dab of silicone seal would seal it. Performance-wise, it does very well. The usable range is quoted as about 100' (30m) but I found that it did acceptably well to a measured 180' (55m) as the attached pics show. The camera is a HikVision 8mp analogue unit. They were taken with the camera's IR "on" but the difference is negligible with it off. . I could see two coyotes even when they were nearly at the tree line. (They are not in the sample pic.) As with all IR illumination, rain near the camera really "lights up", however. The AC-DC adaptor consumes 16w @ 120v. I tried splicing another DC lead into the cable that supplies 12v to the camera but the IR output was reduced, so it does need to be independently powered. The one unknown is long-term durability, which remains to be seen. But I just ordered another one to augment the camera on the other side of the property, which is only about 90' to the fence line. An initial test showed that the area was very well lit. (Updated Oct.13)
